DescriptionCountry Program practice Guidelines for procurement and Bidding In daily livestock markets. From livestock farmers associations. Directly from the farmers. Selection of good quality animals (can go to Animal Breeding section as well) Select animals for genetic improvement and based on community's economic conditions. Utilize local animal types and breeds, when possible that are suitable for the local environment. Health certificate with all the vaccination required to be issued by the competent veterinary services. Transportation guidelines Transport during fresh hours of the day (early morning or late in the evening to avoid heat). Transport in vehicles with no baggage. Quarantine practices Quarantine new herd animals for appropriate period. Pre-purchase health checks, blood tests (especially those required by the government) and fecal counts when necessary.
