4
Live Text running in MIME Emails ● Previous releases did not have Live Text recognition running in MIME e-mails. This is now supported.
5
Widget Provider APIs ● A new API is provided that allows developers to create their own custom widget types. ● Tech Note: http://www- 01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21459 719 ● Public samples will be posted to OpenNTF
6
Opening a web widget in different places ● You can now choose where you want web widgets to open: ● This is only supported for non-authentication, non-form web widget. ● Tech Note: http://www- 01.ibm.com/support /docview.wss?uid=s wg21459749
7
Opening web widgets with the local web container ● Lotus Notes 8.5.3 enables you to create a Web page widget from the current context based on a local Web application and then manage the widget's URL value in its XML file to resolve to the actual local Web container URL. This enables you to force a Web page widget to open in the local Web container, rather than referencing an old or invalid port. ● Tech Note: http://www- 01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21459750
8
New Xpage UI in the Widgets Catalog ● The widget catalog is now an XPages application with expanded view and search capabilities. You can view entries in the widget catalog by author, by category, by type, or simply view all widgets. Additionally, you can display plug-ins for specific products, such as Lotus Notes, Sametime, or Symphony. While browsing the widget catalog you can add comments, tags and ratings to widgets. ● Tech Note: http://www- 01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21459846
9
'Install this Widget' menu enhancement ● When viewing a Widget document from the Widget Catalog in a web browser or any web page with a link to an extension.xml, you can now use the Tools/Widgets/Install this widget menu to install the Widget. (the link cannot be inside a frame)
10
Export Action ● You can now right-click on a Widget in the My Widgets panel and select 'Export' to export the widget to a local file.
11
Widget Catalog on Mail Server ● If an admin specifies @mail_server as the Widget Catalog server policy setting/preference, the value will resolve to the user's mail server. ● This allows the admin to use the same policy for a group of users who's Widget Catalog may not reside on the same server but rather on each user's mail server. com.ibm.rcp.toolbox.admin/toolboxCatalogServer=@mail_server
12
Editing Managed Widget Preferences ● If a user installs a widget from the corporate widget catalog, the widget is considered managed and will receive updates automatically. ● In previous releases, managed widget preferences could not be modified using the Properties action. This action is no longer disabled for managed widgets. Users need to be aware that their customization can be undone if an update is pushed from the Catalog. ● Admins can disable this feature by using a Widgets preference: com.ibm.rcp.toolbox/allowManagedWidgetEditPref=false
