3. SITE MISSION Buckhannon Manor’s goal is to bring tenants out of their normal everyday lives and interact with one another. Because these individuals are in the categories of elderly/handicapped, they like to stay in their comfort zone of their 4-walled apartments. Meeting twice a week in the community room helps them learn communication skills, as well as creating lifelong friendships.

7. GOOD TO KNOW When is the site open to the public? Monday-Friday 8am-4pm Volunteers can only complete Service from 8am- 6pm, Monday-Thursday There are no requirements to work at this site – this site is based on trustworthiness and responsibility.

8. VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES The schedule changes by semester. An example of the Fall 2015 Semester is as follows: Tuesday Crafts 2:30-3:30 Computers 3:30-4:30 Wednesday Beauty Parlor 11:30- 12:30 Thursday Bingo 2:30-3:30 Computers 3:30-4:30

9. VOLUNTEER EXPECTATIONS There are emergency exists throughout the building. If the building should catch fire, immediately dial 911 and escort the tenants out of one of the doors. Because this is a home for the handicapped and elderly, there is always a chance of heath risk. If something like this should happen, dial 911 and find Mary (site supervisor) immediately. This site is based on a trust policy. You record your hours and they are signed off on at the end of the semester. Appropriate dress is casual. However, shoulders must be covered by at least 2 finger tips. Shorts/Skirts/Dresses must be at least fingertip length.

10. SPECIAL PROJECTS On the last Friday of every month, the Manor holds a “Meet & Greet” for all of the tenants. Each gathering consists of food, games, awards, and interaction. These Meet & Greet’s are held at 2pm. Most themes are coordinated with an upcoming holiday, however, all theme suggestions are appreciated!
