2
Introduction A display device is the most common form of output device.
3
DISPLAY DEVICES Display Devices: -The most common form of output device presents output visually. Some types of computer screens: ))) -With desktop PCs formally also called Computer Screen or formally Monitors. -With all-in-one PCs, notebook computers, handheld PCs, and other devices which is built into the unit the term Display Screen may be used which also built into e-book, digital picture frames, portable DVD players, and other products such as Data Projector that projects computer output onto a wall or projection screen for a presentation.
4
DISPLAY DEVICES Characteristics and features that differentiate one type of display device from another which form text characters, graphical images, and video images by lighting up the proper configurations of pixel Color Monochrome Displays: -Use only two colors (black and white or black and green) and are not commonly used today. Color displays : -They are the norm and form all colors available on the screen by mixing combinations of only three colors (red, green, and blue) which vary intensities of pixels and produce an enormous spectrum of colors.
5
DISPLAY DEVICES Size: the size of a display device is measured in inches diagonally from corner to corner, similar to TV screens are measured, however viewing area of many display devices is smaller than the stated size. Ex: 17-inch monitor might have a 16 inches viewable image size (VIS) or 15.7inches

7
Screen Resolution A higher screen resolution (measured in pixels) displays everything smaller than a lower screen resolution. The number of pixels used on a display screen determines the screen resolution, which affects the size of the elements displayed on the screen.
8
Ex: 1,024 x 768 (1,024 pixels horizontally by 768 pixels vertically.) A higher resolution is selected, more data can fit on the screen. 640 x 480 or 800 x 600 A lower resolution will be Displayed bigger than the higher resolution. General Pixels
9
Pixels Dots (or pixels): Digital images are made up of pixels (or dots). Each pixel represents the color at a single point in the image, so a pixel is like a tiny dot of a particular color. O o ………
10
Graphics Standards Video card or integrated video component built directly into the motherboard to connect a display device to the computer. Display characteristics as the screen resolutions available.
11
TThe screen resolutions BBit depth is the number of bits used to store color information about each pixel. TThe total number of colors that can be used to display images.
12
Video cards also contain memory chips (video RAM or VRAM) to support graphics display.
13
Several Graphics Standards VGA (video graphics array) is the older standard. It dictates a resolution of 640 by 480 pixels and allows a screen to display at most 256 colors. SVGA (supper VGA) is the most popular standard today, which allows for higher resolutions and true color (16.7 million colors). Video RAM supports higher resolutions, bit depths, and number of colors. A typical amount of video RAM today is about 64 MB.
14
Conclusion In short, we talked about different colors, sizes, and resolutions of display devices. ~ One more slide ~
