A plan to reduce flood risk in Calderdale is due to be completed by October 2016. The purpose of the plan is to drive action and facilitate partnership working It will take a ‘catchment wide’ approach including natural flood management Cumbria also produced a plan in June Catchment Plan: A collaborative approach to flood risk

Emerging Catchment Plan Scope How the catchment can be changed to reduce flooding and increase flood resilience by: Natural flood management Strengthening defences Supporting community resilience Maintenance of channel and assets Use of existing water infrastructure e.g reservoirs, mill ponds, canal

Accountability The Environment Agency is facilitating the process of producing the Catchment Plan and is the ‘accountable body’ However the plan will be owned and delivered by the Calderdale Flood Resilience and Recovery Partnership and be signed off by the Board The ‘buy-in’ of the delivery partners is essential.

Development of the Catchment Plan What? APRIL - JUNE Development of scope Community consultation to design collaborative process Develop JULY - AUGUST Input into the Action Plan from Calderdale Flood Resilience and Recovery Partnership, local community knowledge, plus technical and academic expertise Series of workshops, evidence and project data collection Produce Output SEPTEMBER - OCTOBER Produce first draft for consultation with partners and public Produce hard and digital copies. Ongoing Engagement
