Our Digestive System has 12 parts. These are : Mouth, Salivary glands, Oesophagus, Liver, Gall bladder, Stomach, Pancreas, Small Intestines, Large Intestines, Appendix, Rectrum and Anus

Digestion is the breaking down of food into forms that our bodies can use. Our bodies use food as fuel to provide energy for work, play and growth.

Chewing breaks the food into pieces that are more easily digested, while saliva mixes with food to begin the process.

Located in your throat near the trachea (windpipe), the oesophagus receives food from your mouth when you swallow. Oesophagus delivers food to the stomach.

The stomach is a hollow organ, or "container," that holds food while it is being mixed with enzymes that continue the process of breaking down food into a usable form.

The small intestine is a long muscular tube that breaks down food using enzymes released by the pancreas and bile from the liver.

The pancreas releases digestive enzymes into the small intestine.

Bile from the liver secreted into the small intestine also plays an important role in digesting fat.

The Large intestine is a long muscular tube that passes waste through it.

The gallbladder stores and concentrates bile, and then releases it into the small intestine

The Anus is the last part of the digestive system which releases undigested food or waste product out of the body.
