SOIL The upper layer of earth in which plants grow, a black or dark brown material typically consisting of a mixture of organic remains, clay, and rock particles. o SOIL CONSERVATION: Soil conservation is a combination of all methods of management and land use that safeguard the soil against depletion by natural or man induced factors.
