5  The bank made by the struggle of founder of Pakistan M. Ali jinah 1941 to serve Indian Muslim community, in mumbay.  After the formation of Pakistan in 1947, Habib Bank moved its headquarters to Karachi, capital of Pakistan  Pakistan government nationalized it on 1 January 1974. 6  The bank has 1450 branches in Pakistan and 55 branches worldwide.  HBL started its international expansion in 1 950 and opened three branches in srilanka in 1951.  In 1956 HBL opened the first of five branches in Kenya.  1969 HBL opened the first of 3 branches and an OBU in Bahrain  1971 HBL opened an OBU in Singapore and a branch in New York City.  1972 HBL opened the first of 11 branches in Oman  1980 HBL opened a branch in Paris and another in Hong Kong.  1983 HBL opened branch in the Karachi EPZ and a branch in Istanbul. 9 Current account Current account can be withdrawn by the depositor at any time by cheques. Businessman generally open current account with banks. It do not carry any interest as the amount deposited in these accounts is repayable on demand without any restriction. There is exemption of zakat on this deposit.
