1. Animal-like Heterotrophs Most can move Another name = protozoans (unicellular) 4 types: 1. Sarcodines - with pseudopods (false feet) 2. Ciliates – with cilia 3. Flagellates - with flagella 4. Parasites – feed on other cells (example = Plasmodium)

2. Plant-like Known as algae Autotrophs Vary greatly in size Uni- and multicellular Come in different colors due to pigments Examples: diatoms, dinoflagellates, euglenoids, and red, green, or brown algae

3. Fungus-like Heterotrophs Have cell walls Use spores to reproduce Can move 3 types: slime molds, water molds, downy mildews
