CJA 394 Week 3 DQ 2 There are two court systems the criminal side and the civil side. In the criminal court, the focus generally is on protecting the rights of the suspect and about the overall damage done to society, by someone violating their societal norms. The civil court was originally supposed to be the place where the victim could have their say and get their justice in terms of monetary punishment. In the last few decades there has been more attention paid to victims of crime although that attention stops well short of guaranteeing them specific rights like suspects have guaranteed rights. Are the things that criminal courts are doing today sufficient, or are the things they allow for victims closer to just paying them lip service?
