> operates under its Constitution & Bye-Laws, Rules of Conduct and the applicable Regulations > core objective is to support and protect the construction management profession by upholding professional standards The General Council > governing body of the Institute consists of 8 Office Bearers, 12 Council Members and a number of Co-opted Members Boards and Committees > 5 operational boards each has a number of committees or task groups to support the works of the Institute

《 Our Members 》 As at 1 April 2017, the total no. of HKICM members reached 2,015, of which 1,066 were Corporate Members (including Fellows and Members) Amongst our Corporate Members, around 40% of them also possessing the professional qualification of Architect, Engineer or Surveyor respectively

《 Our Members》 Membership Admission Criteria Membership Class Required Qualification and Experience Member Degree in construction-related discipline + 4 years relevant experience in construction industry Associate Higher Diploma/Certificate in construction-related discipline + 5 years relevant experience in construction industry Construction Supervisor Diploma/Certificate in construction-related discipline or registered as Technically Compentent Person (Grade T1) under Buildings Ordinance + 2 years relevant experience in construction industry Graduate / Student Graduate/student of a construction-related course or programme

What is Construction Management?
《 Our Profession 》 What is Construction Management? A professional practice applied to the management activities of the physical construction process within the built environment from project inception to completion; Including the co-ordination, administration, management of resources and related professional services; and For the purpose of controlling time, cost, scope, quality & safety and compliance with applicable regulations and codes of practice so as to turn the client’s expectation and design into reality.

A construction manager is the person who handles a construction project from start to finish A construction manager is the individual who oversees the project along the way till completion A construction manager plans, directs and budgets a construction project as well as handle any issues which arise during the construction A construction manager wears many hats. He is a supervisor, planner and sometimes worker to boot. This is an interesting job as it requires a multitude of talents to carry out such a role.

《 Construction Manager 》 Major Duties of Construction Manager
Directs and assumes responsibilities for all aspects of construction projects in accordance with the agreed method, procedure, budget and specifications Co-ordinates work of main contractor, sub-contractors, specialist contractors and suppliers Liaises with architects, engineers, surveyors, specialist consultants, contractors and government departments Reviews, inspects, evaluates and reports on the quality, progress and costs of works and adjusts schedule as necessary

Government department/authority accepted HKICM members as technical staff under their contract requirements: Housing Authority (HA) > recognized as ‘Construction Manager’ for HA Maintenance and Improvement contracts Architectural Services Department (ArchSD) > accepted as qualified personnel for ‘Site Agent’ and ‘Front Line Site Supervisor’ for ArchSD contracts

《 Construction Manager 》 Professional Services Professional services provided through our members to various government schemes and public at large, including: - Mediation Services (19 members as Accredited Mediators in HKICM List of Accredited Mediators) Expert Witness Services (12 members as Approved Expert Witnesses in HKICM List of Expert Witnesses) Adjudication Services (HKICM List of Adjudicators to be established) Professional Services under BD Schemes > List of Qualified Persons under Buildings Department’s Mandatory Window Inspection Scheme (total 14 members) > List of Qualified Personnel under Buildings Department’s Unauthorized Building Works in New Territories Exempted Houses - Reporting Scheme (total 65 members)

《 Construction Manager 》 Professional Services Dispute Resolution Advisor Services (A total of 7 HKICM members have been approved as ‘Adviser’ under ArchSD’s List of Dispute Resolution) Authorized Signatory Services (Over 270 HKICM members are approved as ‘Authorized Signatory’ of registered contractors under Buildings Department’s Registers of Registered General Building and Specialist Contractors). Registered Inspector Services (A total of 30 HKICM members are approved as ‘Registered Inspector’ under Buildings Department’s Inspectors‘ Register

Professional Title “Cr”
《 Construction Manager 》 Professional Title “Cr” Professional title of pre-fix “Cr” was adopted to promote the identity and status of construction manager and construction management profession All HKICM Corporate Members are entitled to use before their English names the title “Cr” (which is an abbreviation of and pronounced as “Construction Manager”) and 〝營造師〞after their Chinese names Corporate Members are encouraged to adopt the pre-fix “Cr” in their name cards and official communications

“R.C.M.” Registration System
《 Construction Manager 》 “R.C.M.” Registration System The “R.C.M.” registration system > Established by HKICM in Dec 2013 with an aim to enhance the professional status of its members > To regulate the registration and disciplinary control of the professional activities of construction managers > Registered Construction Managers (R.C.M.) are assessed to have met stipulated minimum academic, professional and experience requirements who are competence and practising in construction management practices > A person on the Register of Registered Construction Managers is entitled to describe himself as a "Registered Construction Manager" and to use the initials "R.C.M."

《 Construction Manager 》 “R.C.M.” Registration System Qualifications for Registration > a Corporate Member of HKICM for 2 years or more > at least2 years’ relevant professional experience in Hong Kong > ordinarily resided in Hong Kong > with professional qualification recognized by the Construction Managers Registration Board Register of Registered Construction Managers > Registration was first launched in May 2014 > Up to 17 March 2017, a total of 223 members have been registered as RCM in the Register of Registered Construction Managers
