Carol Russell EDU650: Teaching, Learning, and Leading in the 21st Century Dr. Dusty Clark. September 14 2017

 My point of view about Lopez’s statement is that I support it sully. In my discussion about formative and summative assessments, I advocated for student- centered assessments.

Lopez is right when he says that teachers should assess learners in a way that their methods of instruction are evaluated.

 My mindset about assessment has remained the same. I still stand for learner- based evaluations.

The reason why I participate fully in my assessment techniques is so that my students can see the seriousness in taking tests. Also, I have to ensure that the exams are carried out in a fair manner.

 I use various methods of both summative and formative assessments, formally or informally.  Formative methods help me to monitor my students’ developmental progress either academically or at a personal level.  Summative assessments mostly help me in ranking my students.

That is a definite no. Just like I stated, I advocate for assessments that are beneficial to my students.

 No. Incase I want to try a new assessment method, I first ask for assistance from my colleagues. There is no reason to be afraid since I have to ensure that I deliver to my students.

 I will definitely use the questions to help me prepare valuable assessments for my students. I will always revisit them to ensure that I deliver quality assessments.

 These questions will help me put in mind that am accountable for my students’ learning. It will also help me put into consideration the unique capabilities present in each individual students.

 I have been successful in making my students my partners in assessment since I prepare them in line with how I carried out my lessons.  The only failure I have is that at times I decide to carry out a random test, which creates tension. This is one thing I am going to adjust.

 I believe that having read chapter 8 of the No Excuse University, my view of assessments has been impacted positively. I will ensure that I use it as a guideline in fostering student friendly assessments.

 Lopez, D. (2013). No Excuse University– Assessment Methods. Chapter 8
