1 Welcome Parents and Guardians!!!
To Mrs. Tirrito’s Pre - Calc class!

2 What you need for Class!! Grading
1) A binder or a flexi notebook (by Mead) and a folder 2) Scientific Calculator –not a cell phone 3) Pencils 4) Textbook – it says at home (online book and app for phone) 5) Printed out notes- print at home and bring to class I DO NOT lend out writing utensils or calculators, the only thing I have to lend is erasers! Grading Quizzes (worth about points)– 1 sometimes 2 a chapter; students have 5 days to make it up. It may be made up before school, in class (students are still responsible for what we do that day and the homework), or during lunch. Must show all work!! 2) Tests (worth about 60 points)- 5 days to make up during the same time as quizzes. Must show all work!! Correct work must be shown for all problems, if it is not then full credit cannot be earned. I must know what each student is doing to solve the problems to ensure a correct process for the future learning. My webpage main calendar will have quiz/test dates on it as well as the homework board

3 Review For a quiz: Students are expected to study the night before on their own. Review packets are on my webpage. 2) For a test: Review the day before in class 3) Homework (is given every day) and worth 1 point each, it can be found on the homework board and assignment sheet, which can be found on my webpage (how long a student is absent for is how long they have to make it up) It is updated every two weeks in the portal. Dates are on my webpage. If a student is absent it will go into the portal as a 0 until the next update if it is made up in the allotted time. The homework is due the day after it is given. No Late Homework!! Homework is All or Nothing, if even 1 problem is not done it is nothing. A question mark or redrawing the picture does not count as doing the problem and will earn you no points. I just want to see that there was some effort on solving the problem.

4 The marking period average is weighted with the following categories and percentages:
a) Homework: 15% b) Quizzes/Tests: 85% Example: Grade Total points Quiz: Test: Quiz: Total Homework: Average: 0.15(8/10) (101/122) = 0.15(80) (82.8) = = B

5 Help Hours Every morning from 7:35 – 8:00 2) First 20 minutes of lunch 3) In the math resource room (RM 101) Address: I check my every school day that I am here by 7:30 am. If you me after that time I will not read it until the following morning. If you would like an update on anything please every time you would like one.

6 Cell Phones There are NO cell phones in class at any time for any reason There is NO reason to have a cell phone out in math class.

7 Expectations My expectations are high for all students because I know that they can be accomplished with a little effort and I want my students to succeed in this and in future math classes. If a student misses class for any reason it is their responsibility to get the notes from a classmate or come in and get them from me. Homework can be found on the homework board or the assignment sheet. All worksheets can be found in the bin on the side of the room. If a student is going on a field trip they must get the review packet from me the day before the field trip or the day of. I am always walking around the room when they are doing problems on their own so that they can ask for help.
