1]MTNL Emial ID user with/without static IP
Change Outgoing server SMTP port from 25 to 587 in customer client ( Outlook Express etc) Tick mark on My Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. For more details please follow next slide.

continue Open OutLook Express Click on Tools Click on Account
Select created ID Click on Properties Click on Server Change the outgoing mail server (SMTP) as smtp.mtnl.net.in Tick mark on My Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.

continue Click on Advance Change Server Port nos from 25 to 587
Outgoing mail (smtp): 587 Click on Apply and Ok button

2] Broadband customer having Other domain without Static IP
Request to your -Id provider to change port 25 to 587. If other id provider is not ready to change its port from 25 to 587 then do following step- If you are a Broadband customer, register for the Free account provided by MTNL. You will get address. To create the Free account, please send mail to with following details • Broadband Landline Number • CA Number • Desired address • Mobile Number • Alternate address

continue Once the address is created, you will be notified over the alternate address. Once you have the address, confirm that you are able to login by logging into

continue Open your MTNL account with the help of web browser Click on Tab Click on Administration Tab Click on Account Click on id Click on Manage sender aliases Click on + Add Tab

continue Fill the details of as example- Name: xyz
Click on Apply button then OK button. Click on Close button.

continue Open OutLook Express Click on Tools Click on Account
Double Click on Account Change the outgoing mail server (SMTP) as smtp.mtnl.net.in Click on More setting Click on Outgoing server

continue Select Log on using Enter username :
Tick mark on My Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. Select Log on using Enter username : your MTNL Id Enter Password : MTNL id password Click on Advance change Outgoing server SMTP port to 587 Click on OK button.

3] Broadband customer having Other domain with Static IP
No need to register free MTNL Id. Open OutLook Express Click on Tools Click on Account Change the outgoing mail server (SMTP) as smtp.mtnl.net.in Click on More setting Click on Outgoing server

RemoveTick mark on My Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. Click on Advance change Outgoing server SMTP port to 587 Click on OK button

4] Configuration - Email Servers
1. Open MMC 2. Go to Servers -> Protocols 3. Select Default SMTP Virtual Server Properties 4. Go to Delivery tab 5. Click on Advanced Button 6. Enter smtp.mtnl.net.in in Smart Host edit box. 7. Close MMC

continue 8. Open Exchange Management Shell using Start -> Programs -> Microsoft Exchange Server -> Exchange Management Shell 9. By Default the "Send Connector" is called "All Outbound" unless you have changed it or added additional connectors. To determine this you can type the following at the Exchange Management Shell Get-SendConnector 10. Type the following Set-SendConnector -Identity "All Outbound" -port 587 or the following if your connector is called something else from the default Set-SendConnector -Identity "SENDCONNECTORNAME" -port 587 11. Restart SMTP Service
