About ASSOCHAM is an apex chamber of India and initiated its endeavour of value creation for Indian industry in 1920 as a Non-profit organization. Having in its fold more than 400 Chambers and Trade Associations and serving more than 4.5 lacs members from all over India and abroad. Currently, ASSOCHAM has more than 100 National Councils and 18 International Councils covering the entire gamut of economic activities in India and abroad

Prelude Working population in Japan ( Ages 15 to 64) today is about 8 crores ( 10 lakh less than last year) only. The last time working population went below 8 crores was 32 years ago. And is expected to decrease by a few laks every year and by 2030, it is expected to go down to 6.7 crores On the other hand, Tokyo Olympic is coming in 2020 and the demand for non-skilled workers especially in the construction industry is exoected to increase by at least 20%. Japanese government for esee these unmatched supply of labors in various industries and planning to ease regulations on migrants from abroad. Japanese Government have also announced that the Japanese-Language efficiency level for care takers from abroad for elderly has been degraded from JLPT* N3 to N4 (Elementary student level Japanese language ability). As of October end 2016, the number of registered foreign workers in Japan is 11 lakh. 19.4% increase from previous year. Labour source of countries breakdown : 1 China (3.4 Lakh) 2. Vietnam (1.7 lakh) 3. Philippines (1.3Lakh), 4. Brazil (1.1 Lakh). Vietnam have increased by 56.4% and Nepal (53,000) with 35.1% over the previous year. Among these workers, 2.1 foreign workers (25.4%) were using the Japanese Government initiative “Technical Intern Training Program”. As of today, this is the only way to obtain Japanese working Visa for so-called non-skilled labors. Other 2 lakh labors were part time workers with student Visa Industries wise : 1. Manufacturing (31.2%), 2. Retail (12.9%), 3. Hospitality (12.1%), 4. Construction (3.8%)
