OBJECTIVES To seek answers to the programmed obsolescence of objects
To propose alternative "practices" to consumerism and the large amount of waste we produce every day, to the difficulties of disposal and the insufficient recycling To draw attention to an unsustainable environmental impact To qualify science museums and science centers like increasingly places of "doing"; repair items allows our visitors to learn directly how things are made and how they work To put together around the repair people of different age, social backgrounds, interests, connecting them to each other through a common goal Una ricerca tuttora in corso… cui tutti dovremmo partecipare

THE CULTURE OF REPAIR
4
KINTSUGI

A shared workshop for repair, recovery and reuse of objects (computers, cell phones, home appliances, electronics, bicycles, clothes, etc.) A workspace in which a team of experts offers users repair services with a basic instrument (screwdrivers, compressors, drills, welding machines, precision tools, sewing machines, etc.) An opportunity to give new life to an object A space/time of social gathering and interaction between users and experts An opportunity to generate positive effects on the territory, activating a community of people interested in the topic
6
OPPORTUNITIES To combine traditional and contemporary know-how
Contamination between repair, digital craftsmanship, advanced manufacturing and design in workshops for creative processes (FabLab) To acquire skills and learn repair techniques, using basic and advanced equipment, such as laser cutters, 3D printers, etc. To replicate the model in other contexts, through open innovation, idea generation, joint experimentation, making of new products and sustainable models

1: LOOKING AROUND Milan "My Cousin", a laboratory / workshop where users learn and share the repair world skills; training opportunities related to: basic access to the workshop (workstations for modeling prototypes, use of basic tools, etc.), 3D printers, cutters, heavy machinery.

2: NETWORKING Contamination Lab Napoli a project of the University Federico II in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development which plays in mentoring young people who have developed a business idea. The role of the CLN is to support the project of the Repair Cafe as a case study, organizing events and activities Association Napoli Pedala organizer of the Bike Festival, the feast of the Neapolitan cyclists, which have organized demonstration sessions of repair of different part of a bycicle Association Bytemotion organizer of the Arduino Day Local associations, elderly clubs, etc. from the district of Bagnoli, that may be interested in using the RCN
