CLASS OF 2018 SENIOR CHECKLIST

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Check your transcript to make sure you have completed the following: 4 credits of English 3 credits of Math 3 credits of Science 3 credits of Social Studies 1.5 credits of Physical Education 1 credit of Fine Arts 1 credit of Technology 0.5 credits of Health 11 elective credits TOTAL of 28 credits to graduate

EARLY GRADUATION You must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better, and complete your 28 credit requirement by the end of Term 2 or 3 You must have Support Letters from: Parent, Student, Counselor - Clearly stating your post- secondary career goals (see example on next slide) Submit all of your letters to your school counselor at least one term prior to desired graduation term You must arrange to have a meeting with Mr. Hermann to discuss your request Mr. Hermann will then present the letters to the school board for approval When approved you will need to complete a withdrawal form in Student Services on your last day of class You will need to stay in contact with Patti regarding graduation practice Transfer students cannot graduate early, unless you reach 28 credits

EARLY GRADUATION CONTINUED
The letter should look similar to this: Dear School Board: I, Susie A. Smith am requesting early graduation at the end of term 2. I have met all of the graduation requirements for Union Grove High School and meet the required GPA. I plan on working at Culvers until I start school at Gateway Technical school in the fall. At Gateway I plan on studying nursing. Sincerely, Susie A. Smith

YOUTH OPTIONS SPRING YOUTH OPTIONS
Application deadline – OCTOBER 1st for the Spring Term Applications can be picked up in Guidance or printed off of our website Meet with your counselor to go over the completed forms Changes to your Term 3 and 4 schedule will be made AFTER you have registered for your Youth Options course and give your counselor a copy of your scheduled classes

YOU ONLY GET ONE CHANCE TO MAKE A FIRST IMPRESSION!
Have someone (parents, teacher, friend, counselor) proof read your applications Check for misspelled words, incomplete sentences and accuracy Use pen or the computer, neatness counts Make sure you are answering the essay question Remember you are asking for FREE money make sure you present yourself to the best of your ability!

FINANCIAL AID Every student should apply for financial aid by filling out the Free Application For Federal Student Aid This form is available October 1st Complete the College’s Financial Aid Application. In general, once you are admitted they will mail you an application or they will direct you to a link on their website. *REMEMBER FINANCIAL AID NIGHT MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 25

Start your scholarship search NOW! Local Scholarships will be available Jan. 1st in Student Services and on our website Listen to the daily announcements for scholarships and check the written announcements

IMPORTANT EVENTS Business and College Expo at UGHS – Wednesday, September 13 from 4:30 to 7:30 pm Multiple local businesses and over 25 private, public, 2 year and 4 year colleges will be present WEF at Franklin High School – Thursday, October 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm Visit with over 90 college representatives. Pre registration is recommended: NACAC College Fair at the Fronteir Airlines Center – Sunday, October 15 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm Visit with over 240 college representatives. Pre register at Financial Aid Night at UGHS – Monday, September 25 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm Learn the ins and outs of the FASFA application
