Australia retained its place as the world’s “Happiest” industrialised nation for the third year running according to an OECD survey. Australia is the 3rd most popular student destination in the world. Australia has world class 39 Universities, and 60 Vocational institutions.

3 SOL and CSOL List for Skilled Occupation List You must nominate an occupation from the Skilled Occupations List (SOL) if you are applying for an Independent or Family Sponsored Points Tested visa or a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) – Graduate Work Stream. Consolidated Skilled Occupation List ​​​​You must nominate an occupation from the Consolidated Sponsored Occupations List (CSOL) if you are nominated by a State or Territory Government, a direct entry stream Employer Nomination Scheme visa, a Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457) or a Training and Research Visa (Subclass 402).

6 Overview of skilled migration to Australia - specifically designed to target migrants who have skills or outstanding abilities that will contribute to the Australian economy. - There are four main skilled migrations categories: 1) Point-based skilled migration 2) Permanent Employer Sponsored Programme 3) Business Innovation and Investment Programme 4) Distinguished talent.

7 Point-based skilled migration There is a range of points-based skilled migration visa options for skilled workers who want to live in Australia. Applicants can be nominated by a state or territory government agency (Visa Subclass – 190) Sponsored by an eligible relative (Visa Subclass – 496) *​This visa is closed to new applications.​ Independently migrate (non-sponsored). (Visa Subclass – 189) Independent migrants are selected on the basis of their skills, attributes and suitability for employment so they are in a position to contribute quickly to the Australian economy. They are not sponsored by an employer or relative in Australia.

8 Skilled Migration Visa is Invitational based on EOI 1) Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect. 2) To submit a complete expression of interest, you must a) have competent English language skills, b)pass the points test and c) have a positive skills assessment for your nominated occupation (or Job Ready program, if applicable). 3) If invited to apply for a skilled migration visa you will have 60 days to lodge a visa application which will be assessed by a processing team against the visa subclass requirements.

13 Permanent Employer Sponsored Programme The programme allows employers to nominate foreign workers for permanent residence to fill genuine vacancies in their business. The Permanent Employer Sponsored Programme consists of the following: 1) Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) (Subclass – 186) 2) Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS). (Subclass – 187)

14 Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) (Subclass – 186) - This visa involves a two-step process: 1) firstly, nomination by an approved Australian employer and 2) then an application under the nominated stream. - It is part of the Permanent Employer Sponsored Visa programme. - This visa is a permanent residence visa. You can​ be in or outside Australia when you apply. If you are in Australia, you must hold a substantive visa or a bridging visa A, B or C.

15 Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme RSMS)
Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme RSMS) (Subclass – 187) This visa is a permanent residence visa for skilled workers who want to work in regional Australia. You might be able to get this visa if you: 1) have been nominated by an approved Australian employer for a job in regional Australia (regional Australia does not include the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, Wollongong or Melbourne) 2) are younger than 50 years of age, unless you are exempt 3) meet the skills, qualifications and English language requirements, unless you are exempt

16 Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457) - The Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457) allows skilled workers to come to Aust​ralia and work for an approved business for up to four years. - You must be sponsored by an approved business. - A business can sponsor someone for this visa if they cannot find an Australian citizen or permanent resident to do the skilled work. - You can be in or outside Australia​ when you lodge your application. - You might be able to get this visa if: a) you have been sponsored by an approved business b) you have the required skills to fill a position nominated by an approved business.

17 Pathways for Nurses There are a number of different pathways that you can enter into Nursing in Australia but each one will depend on your IELTS or OET score as well as the level of education you have had in your home country. 1) Take the IELTS or OET test. (score should be at least 7.0 in each band of IELTS Academic or the equivalent in OET or PTE Academic or TOEFL iBT ) 2) Apply for Australian RN Registration 3) Once registered, apply for appropriate Visa

18 Pathways If not able to get Registration from APHRA - Take the Nurse Bridging Program. This is called the IRON (Initial Registration for Overseas Nurses). - Upgrade their current registered nursing qualification to a Bachelor degree qualification (assessed at AQF level 7) either: In Australia or Overseas.  Canada  New Zealand  the Republic of Ireland  South Africa  United Kingdom  USA - If in Australia, on a student visa, can work up to 1400 hours annually and earn up to $30,000 which will make a significant contribution to the cost of studying in Australia. - After you have studied in an Australian University for 2 years you can apply for a 18 month work visa without a sponsor. - if you do not have a current IELTS 7.0, you are more likely to achieve this by immersing yourself in the English speaking culture of Australia where you are forced to improve your English. Most education institutions offer English tuition as part of the student visa study Program.

19 The Bridging Program for Nurses. Basic Requirements: 7
The Bridging Program for Nurses * Basic Requirements: 7.0 in each band of IELTS Academic or the equivalent in OET or PTE Academic or TOEFL iBT and a letter of referral from AHPRA. * 3-month course (1-month classroom, 2-months in the workplace) * Course content: • Maximum 480 hours in 12 weeks. • Theory: 4 weeks; Australian health system and legal environment • Class Size : 25 students • Clinical Laboratory: ongoing role playing and practising procedures • Clinical Placement: 8 weeks in Hospitals and Aged Care facilities *Cost • Course fees: $12,000 • Enrolment Fee: $500 (Includes academic support) Include course Materials. • Cost of Living: Rent: $150-$250 per week Food/Personal:$50-$100 week Actual living costs will depend on the type of accommodation you choose, the location, and the number of persons sharing these facilities.
