So, please type it up and print it out. If you can finish a rough draft today, I would be very pleased! Print it out and submit it. ROUGH DRAFTS ARE DUE AT THE LATEST ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18.

Format Requirements: 1-2 typed pages (ONE FULL PAGE, but absolutely no more than TWO) 12 point font, Times New Roman You must include at least one example of Restatement, Repetition, Analogy, or Parallel Structure You must include facts, statistics, and/or expert opinion Choose an organizational structure to connect ideas: Chronological order, compare-contrast, cause-effect, or problem-solution. I will provide you with some sentence starters you can use with these organizational structures. I would like you to make use of them in your speech.

You show the listener that the reasoning for your side is more logical than the reasoning on the opposing side(s). You provide evidence in support of your position to make it stronger. ORGANIZATION FOR YOUR SPEECH Introduction (First Paragraph): Hook … Background … Thesis Body (Paragraphs 2-3): Reasons with Evidence and Quotations (Paragraphs 4-5): Counterarguments with your Responses to them Conclusion (Final Paragraph): Tie all your thoughts together in a strong ending statement.

Trade speeches with a classmate… Complete a peer critique: Read the paper (or the opening paragraph). In the intro, highlight the hook in blue, the thesis statement in pink. In the first body paragraphs, highlight the evidence in green. In the remaining body paragraphs, highlight the counterarguments in yellow. If you notice any grammatical errors, point them out to the writer. When you are finished with your critique, return the paper to the writer. Work to fix the problems in your paper.

Now is the perfect time for refocusing on school to earn your English credit. There are FIVE WEEKS of school remaining before midterm exams. Please take some time to fill out the questionnaire. I would like to talk a bit more about our mindsets. When you are finished, turn it in to the basket and organize your binder. When your binder is correctly organized, call me over for a check.

Use each of the words in a DOK Level 1 or 2 question that might appear on a quiz, test, or standardized assessment. Use your Cornell Notes on Depth of Knowledge Levels to help you with this assignment. Draw (take out, pull from) - 1 Identify (find, point out) - 1 Illustrate (create visual material to clarify a point) - 1 Recognize (identify something you have seen before) - 1 Context (parts of the text that surround and help explain a specific word or passage) - 2 Summarize (to retell using fewer words) - 2

Please gather your bellwork for the last two weeks, make sure your name and period are on your paper, staple the BW to the Tier 2 Vocab Activity, and submit to your class basket. Period 3 – Look for an airplane, flower, and world stamps…Tier 2 was a dove. Periods 4+6 – Look for a flower, dove, and world stamps…Tier 2 was a butterfly and snowman.
