9 Group Excercise SLM Technologies and Approaches
After presentation of SLM Ts and As inventory… … which Ts and As are missing and are existing in the region? … are there innovative Ts / As not yet implemented which could be interesting for the region? … are there Ts / As from other countries which could be interesting for the region?  30 minutes discussion in groups of 4-5 persons  short presentation by each group

10 Questions/Difficulties:
Naming of the Ts/As  be specific, e.g. not just ‘agroforestry’ ‘afforestation’ ‘green house’ Are these practices sustainable?

11

12 Ts/As according to key landscapes; land use types and problems faced:

13 Day 2 – Field day General programme: Morning: Filling out QT with land user(s)  needs minimum 3-4 hours! Afternoon: Filling out QA with stakeholder(s)  needs minimum 2 hours A few things to remember: 1) Try to make small groups of max. 8 persons; each group is supervised (if interview is in local language, define supervisor beforehand and arrange translation; supervisors may move in between groups) 2) Technology: For each group one land user should be available to be interviewed on one plot of land; same T on their own land; same or different T (choose Ts in vicinity) 3) Approach: For each group have several stakeholders available to be interviewed

14 4) Land users/stakeholders need to be informed that it is an excercise and that it takes time!
5) Before starting the discussion with the land user(s)  go and visit the Technology with the land user, see the details, take pictures, ask some preliminary questions  have a good idea of what the T is about before starting to fill out the questionnaire 6) Depending on how much time is available, focus on difficult questions and the following: 7) Try to provide some tips on how to lead the discussion with the farmer, how to ask the questions in a simple way, give hints on answers to pick etc. This can then again be discussed in the plenary on Day 3 8) All participants should fill in the answers to have the information ready for Day 3 – data entry

15 Day 3 Location: Training Center Equipment: Internet connection Beamer
Speakers Laptops/computers (per participant or per 2-3 participants) Flip chart or whiteboard Coloured post its Print out of QT and QA for each participant

16 Feedback from the field / Q&A
prepare a ppt with the most tricky questions; questions where additional explanations were requested etc. (optional) Calculate enough time for plenary discussion or group excercise on difficulties, challenges… Data entry Each participant tries to enter the QT and QA data in the WOCAT database Participants should have their login approved by then Participants should be made aware of how the review process functions

17 Data entry – Dev, Demo oder Live Version?

18 WOCAT Video add the video element if there is an interest / it is requested  If not, you have around 3 hours more available!  other excercises, do QA on Day 3 in the morning…

19 Define the next steps a QT/QA training should be held just before people are planning to go to the field if the project context allows, try to organize with the participants the data collection process define with the organizers if an additional refreshment training; training in local language; additional field day is necessary to deepen the understanding Feedback and closing round Evaluate the training with the participants  make a round and collect a brief feedback from each participant (optional: do it with a short questionnaire) Handing out certificates and take group picture 
