2 RepublicanPlatform Abortion- We oppose using public revenues for abortion and will not fund organizations which advocate it. Drug abuse- We strongly support a ban on the sale of K2 “Spice”- a packet of herbs coated with synthetic chemical that mimics a marijuana high when smoked. Education- Parents have the primary right and responsibility for the education of their children. The state education system should support and stimulate that parental role. Business and Labor- We believe the cornerstone of Republican philosophy is the belief that each man or woman is an individual who is responsible for his or her place in society. The individual is encouraged to work to secure the benefits of that society for himself or herself and for his or her family as well as for those unable to care for themselves.

3 The Republican Elephant
Thomas Nast has been credited with the creation of the elephant as the Republican symbol. The first symbol ever given to the Republican party was the eagle, but was quickly changed to the elephant because it was thought to be dignified, strong, and big; all of which are admirable traits.

4 Fun Facts Established at Ribon, Wisconsin in 1854.
Jeanette Rankin became the first Republican woman to serve in the House of Representatives for the state of Montana. The Republican party believes in the voluntary giving and community support over taxation and forced redistribution. The Republican party supports low taxes because individuals know how to make their own economic and charitable choices.
