For Quantway 1, the first semester, we also compared the success rates of our Quantway students with a comparable cohort. Quantway 1 is intended to replace the traditional two semesters of algebra. We have re-conceptualized the algebra content that is necessary for succeeding in a college level quantitative reasoning course. We found that students in the traditional sequence have only a 21% success rate in one term, and only 29% in two terms; whereas, 56% of our QW 1 students were successful in one semester or term.
Success in a course is defined as achieving a C, or better; or pass in pass/fail course.
Campus example is Rockland in Fall 2014.
