3 Summer School NOT Required
NWEA Final Report Card Grade Summer School Status Score at or above 24th percentile Math & Reading Passing Math & Reading Not Required Score between 11-23rd percentile in Math OR Reading OR both Earning a “C” or better in Math & Reading Promotion criteria is measured different for Diverse Learners please refer to back side of the promotional policy.

5 Coles’ Attendance Policy -Students/Parent Handbook
ARRIVAL Students should arrive to school between 7: :00a.m. ATTENDANCE There is a direct correlation between good attendance and student achievement. Students must be in school in order to take advantage of the educational program, keep up with their lessons and maintain good grades.

6 Coles’ Uniform Policy Student/Parent Handbook
UNIFORMS All students must be in school uniform everyday unless directed otherwise by administration (This does occur on a minimal basis throughout the school year).

7 Coles’ Behavioral Policy Student/Parent Handbook
CELLUAR PHONE POLICY Students are not allowed to have these in the building without authorization. Students that activate cellular phones without authorization will have their cellular phone immediately confiscated and only a parent/ guardian listed on the EMERGENCY FORM will be allowed to retrieve the cellular phone. DISCIPLINE POLICY (ZERO TOLERANCE) Discipline promotes self direction and provides a positive learning environment. Coles Academy requires high standards of behavior of its students. Please visit the Chicago Public School Student Code of Conduct Book for further information. LUNCHROOM BEHAVIOR Students are expected to conduct themselves properly during the supervised lunchroom periods as well as follow routinely procedures while walking to and from the big building.

8 Student Code of Conduct School Rules
1. All students must wear the school uniform (navy blue bottoms and gold tops) daily with black, blue or brown shoes. Black, blue or brown gym shoes are allowed. 2. Gum and candy are not permitted in the school, except during lunch periods. 3. Rough play and physical contact of any kind is forbidden. “Play fighting” usually results in “a real fight” or argument that may result in suspension. 4. Students must always speak respectfully to all school personnel, parent volunteers and to each other. Students should address each staff personnel as Mr./ Mrs. (Last name) (e.g. Mr. Walsh, Mrs. Foster) 5. Students are not allowed to leave the classroom without adult supervision or a pass. 6. All home work assignments and special projects must be completed and turned in when due. 7. Notes for all absences and tardies are required upon the student’s return to school. Absences should be limited; there should be no tardies. 8. Students must respect all public and private property. 9. No fighting, pushing, cursing on school grounds or in the building. 10.Students are to line up in silence at and/ or during all entry times. 11. During instruction, respect the rights of others to listen and learn without interference or distraction from others. 12. No making or throwing snowballs on school grounds when snow is present.

9 Coles’ Academic Policy
SUPPLIES Students are expected to be prepared with the necessary school supplies to complete class work. WALKING IN THE HALLS When classes and students are moving through the halls, walk to the right of the hall with your class and line up in the designated area assigned for your class.
