A watershed is an area of land that drains to a common location.
A watershed can vary in size, they can represent the area draining to a small stream or to the entire area draining to an ocean.

Can you think of someone who has taken up causes that are important to them?

7. Wildlife protections
Steve Irwin was very involved in wildlife protection. In fact he lost his life doing something he loved, working with wildlife. His family continues his legacy.

8. AIDS
Bono, lead singer for U2 has held numerous fundraising events around the world to bring attention to the AIDS epidemic in Africa.
He has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, was granted an honorary knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, and was named as a Person of the Year by Time Magazine.

Jack Hanna is another person who works with wildlife protection.
Since the 1970’s he has been involved with programs that help endangered animals or have provided havens for protected species.
His media appearances have made him one of the most notable animal experts in the United States.
