1 What is an Ambassador? Exploring the qualities of ambassadors and applying them to watershed protection at Cross Bar Ranch

2 Ambassador An ambassador is a diplomatic official at the highest rank that is appointed to speak with foreign countries on behalf of his/her own country. Zalmay Khalilzad: US ambassador to the UN

3 Ambassador An ambassador can also refer to a messenger or agent with a special mission.

4 Watershed Ambassadors
You are going to become watershed ambassadors by spreading the word of their importance to people, wildlife and fresh water resources.

5 What’s a watershed? A watershed is an area of land that drains to a common location. A watershed can vary in size, they can represent the area draining to a small stream or to the entire area draining to an ocean.

6 Who are messengers of change?
Can you think of someone who has taken up causes that are important to them?

7 Wildlife protections Steve Irwin was very involved in wildlife protection. In fact he lost his life doing something he loved, working with wildlife. His family continues his legacy.

8 AIDS Bono, lead singer for U2 has held numerous fundraising events around the world to bring attention to the AIDS epidemic in Africa. He has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, was granted an honorary knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, and was named as a Person of the Year by Time Magazine.

9 Wildlife habitats Jack Hanna is another person who works with wildlife protection. Since the 1970’s he has been involved with programs that help endangered animals or have provided havens for protected species. His media appearances have made him one of the most notable animal experts in the United States.

10 Education Oprah Winfrey has spent millions of her own money providing schools for young girls in African countries in order to expand the opportunities available to them.

11 Global warming Al Gore has warned about the dangers of global warming.
His theories are not agreed upon by all He has however been instrumental in bringing the topic into discussion and bringing attention to protecting the environment.

12 FOCUSED How are these people taking on the role of ambassadors for their causes similar to ambassadors assigned to countries? They are focused on their particular issue and are taking great strides in bringing others to notice the issue.
