6 Tuchola Forest in the history...
In 1939, during the Invasion of Poland at the very beginning of World War II, the major Battle of Tuchola Forest was fought in the area. Soon, the former military test area was occupied again by German troops and called Truppenübungsplatz Westpreußen, or by its code name, "Heidekraut". After World War II, the forest was a safe haven for many anti-communist partisans.

7 FAUNA OF TUCHOLA FOREST
The area in Northern Poland is home to many different species of animals like: red deer, roe deer, fox, wild boar, wolf. There are also plenty of rare birds, mainly: crane, heron, raven, eagle owl and black stork.

8 FLORA OF TUCHOLA FOREST
The flora of Tuchola Forest is termed as quite rich. The dominant tree species is pine. In some areas there are heaths. Lake gutters have turned into peat bogs or fertile meadows. On peat bogs occur quite frequently small cranberry, marsh and mosses. This flora also stands out positively, beacuse of the existence of relicts. This indicates a high degree of naturalness of the region.
