Greek “testament,” diaqhkh (Latin, testamentum), means “will, testament, or covenant.” A new arrangement made by one party into which others could enter if they accepted the covenant God’s Word – written under supernatural guidance by the Holy Spirit Protected from human error A record of the fulfilment of the prophecy: Prophesised in Jeremiah 31:31 “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah.” (650BC) Fulfilled by Jesus in 1 Cor. 11:25 “In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.””

Through the work of the Holy Spirit, Acts proclaims the message of Jesus around the world Develops the full significance of the person and work of Jesus and how this should impact the walk of the Christian Anticipates the end time events and the return of Jesus, His end time reign, and the eternal state

12 Canonisation of New Testament books
After they were written, the 27 individual books were not immediately gathered together into the canon. Groups of books like Paul’s letters and the Gospels were preserved at first by the people to whom they were sent, and gradually all 27books were collected and formally acknowledged by the church as a whole. Heresy accentuated the need for distinguishing valid Scripture from other Christian literature. The canon was certified at the Council of Carthage in A.D. 397 Certain tests were developed to determine which books should be included. (1) Was the book written or approved by an apostle? (2) Were its contents of a spiritual nature? (3) Did it give evidence of being inspired by God? (4) Was it widely received by the churches?
