To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down upon everybody else, Jesus told this parable. Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: “God, I thank you that I am not like other men – robbers, evildoers, adulterers – or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.”

He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, “God, have mercy on me, a sinner.” I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

“Watch our for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.” – Matt 7:15
“Go tell that fox, I will drive out demons and heal people today and tomorrow…” - Luke 13:32

8. Never Judge Ever?
Either Jesus is a hypocrite or we have not properly understood this passage
“Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with a righteous judgment.” – John 7:24
So we have a command to judge and not to judge?

9. Never Judge Ever? So what is Jesus asking us to do?
“I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.” –Rom 16:17
“If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned.” – Gal 1:9
So what is Jesus asking us to do?

Do not stop judging, but stop being judgmental
We should not make quick judgments without knowing the facts and circumstances. Never allow our background, prejudices, or preferences affect our judgment of a person.
The Pharisee in Luke 18 failed in all this

14. Proper Correction

In Luke 18, the Pharisee ignored the beam in his eye

Instead of ignoring each other’s sins because we don’t want to “judge each other” we should encourage one another to overcome our flaws.
STARTING with ourselves.

Dogs/Swine = unclean/unholy
That which is holy is the message of salvation
Do not waste time with those who have no interest
“And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave, as a testimony against them.” – Mark 6:11

19. Let us evaluate our lives before anyone else’s
Let us use righteous judgment not judgmental judgment
Let us never jump to conclusions without all the facts
Let us never stereotype people
Let us always correct with grace and mercy
Let us listen with an open heart
