What Is VenaCure EVLT® Treatment?
VenaCure EVLT laser treatment eliminates unsightly varicose veins with: No hospital stay Minimal-to-no scarring No lengthy recovery Minimal-to-no side effects The VenaCure EVLT system uses targeted laser energy to seal the vein shut and help patients look and feel better fast.
3
The Results Speak For Themselves

4
Varicose Veins What is the cause? how can we treat it?
5
How Common Are Varicose Veins?
It’s estimated that half of all middle-aged adults in the United States are affected by unsightly and often painful varicose veins More than 20 million people in the United States suffer from varicose veins or spider veins Woman are twice as likely as males to develop varicose veins and spider veins
6
What Causes Varicose Veins?
Inherited genetic predisposition Normal aging process Hormonal changes that relax vein walls, which put woman at a greater risk than men Conditions that put excess pressure on leg veins – including standing for long periods of time, obesity and pregnancy History of blood clots and conditions that increase pressure in the abdomen, such as tumors, constipation and tight garments Previous venous surgery Exposure to ultraviolet rays
7
What Causes Varicose Veins?
8
What Happens When The Valves Fail?
Prolonged dilation damages the valves, so even when vasoconstriction occurs, the blood continues to flow in the wrong direction The resulting backpressure is termed “venous hypertension”, and this is what causes the painful varicose veins Valves in the vein lack the apposition needed to prevent reverse flow of blood down your leg
9
Surgical Treatment: Stripping and Ligation
Groin incision, ligation and tying off of tributaries and GSV Once the “stripper” is tied in place, the surgeon rips the stripper and the vein from the leg
10
Problems With Stripping And Ligation Of The GSV
The procedure must be done under general anesthesia, in a hospital setting Most patients suffer from severe post-operative pain requiring prescription drugs to cope Severe bruising/tenderness along the treated vein Typical recovery is between 2-4 weeks There is a high failure/reoccurrence rate
11
Is there another OPTION to surgical treatment?
12
VenaCure EVLT® Treatment - A Better Way
The search for less invasive techniques to treat varicose veins has led to the development of VenaCure EVLT Endovenous Laser Treatment. The VenaCure EVLT system uses targeted laser energy to seal the vein shut and help you look and feel better fast.
13
Advantages of the VenaCure EVLT® Procedure
Treatment in less than an hour Can be performed in the doctor’s office Up to 98% success rate Immediate relief of symptoms Return to normal activity immediately – with little or no pain No general anesthesia or hospitalization Minimal-to-no scarring Typically is covered by insurance
14
The VenaCure EVLT® Procedure
Under local anesthesia, a catheter is placed in the vein through a needle The laser is passed through the catheter to the top of the site After injection of additional anesthesia along the length of the vein, the laser is fired, and the catheter is withdrawn back out of small puncture site
15
Dress leg with compression bandage Class II compression stocking
Post-Operative Care Dress leg with compression bandage Class II compression stocking 20 minute walk Resume normal activities Avoid hot baths Avoid vigorous gym workouts OTC analgesics for any pain
16
Follow-Up Care After the VenaCure EVLT® Procedure
Examinations done with ultrasound to confirm vein staying closed: At one week At one, three, and six months Yearly thereafter Additional cosmetic treatment as needed Sclerotherapy / Phlebectomy
17
What To Expect After The VenaCure EVLT® Procedure
Mild Bruising can occur along the leg that has been treated A “tightening” sensation along the vein is reported by many patients Some mild tenderness along the vein for a couple of days is common Tylenol / Motrin is typically all that is needed

VenaCure EVLT® Treatment – The Results
Combined Results for VenaCure EVLT Treatment and Endovenous Laser Treatment: > 3000 GSVs treated with endovenous laser Up to 28 month follow-up > 97% of GSVs have remained closed Bruising & mild/moderate tenderness (< 2 wks) No other minor or major complications Min R, Khilnani N, Zimmet.
