3 Environmental Index A product of EBSCO Information Services
A bibliographic database offering extensive coverage in the areas of agriculture, ecosystem ecology, energy and affiliated areas of study.  Nearly 3.8 million records Indexing for more than 2,200 domestic and international journals dating back more than 100 years More than 6,800 author profiles Some of these journal titles and full-text articles are available from OARE. 10 August 2017

4 Limits of Environmental Index
Environmental Index is a database and only has links to some full-text articles. In most cases, you will have to return to the OARE Content page and access the articles from the Journal collection A-Z list or access the journals from the specific Publisher’s list. 10 August 2017

5 Opening OARE Click on the ACCESS THE CONTENT link.
From the initial OARE page’s menu, you can find the link to journals and databases, information about OARE plus how to register, training material, etc. Also able to view this information in multiple languages This is the overall OARE homepage where you can log-in or register or browse for journal titles and Abstracts. Note that even no-registered institutions can view Journal titles and abstracts but access to full-text and downloading requires registration and logging in. 10 August 2017

6 From the Access the Content page, click on Log in.

7 Enter the OARE USER NAME and PASSWORD in the appropriate boxes, change the language of the portal (if necessary), then click on the Login button, 08 August 2017

8 From the Access the Content page, click on Log in.
Click on the OARE logo to open the program. All the programs your institution is registered for are listed. Login to any of the other programs by returning to this page (use the R4L Portal – Application tab at the top of the web browser). To open another program, click on the specific logo. Your OARE username and password will grant access to the other programs (and ditto for an institution’s AGORA, ARDI or HINARI username and passwords). 08 August 2017

9 Click on Search inside OARE full-text through database and article searching.
To open Environmental Index, click on the Search inside OARE full-text through database and article searching list. 10 August 2017

10 Environmental Index (EBSCO)
Once Browse databases list is open, click on Environmental Index (EBSCO). Environment Index offers wide coverage in applicable areas of ecosystem ecology, energy, renewable energy sources, natural resources, marine & freshwater science, geography, pollution & waste management, environmental technology, environmental law, public policy, social impacts, urban planning, and more. Using environment index you can search for information in 1.6 million articles from more than 1,600 domestic and international titles and 100 monographs. Remember - in order to access the databases and the full-text articles, you must be logged into OARE. 10 August 2017

11 Note the other Search Options that include Limit your results.
EBSCOhost notes that HINARI (a R4L partner programme) is the client. This means that you have access to the database. The default page isthe Advanced Search display. Enter the air pollution and developing countries in the search boxes and click on Search. Note the other Search Options that include Limit your results. This database is a product of EBSCO. The interface is similar to other databases available via the R4L programmes (e.g. CINAHL for Hinari). 10 August 2017

12 There are 949 Results have been resorted by Date Newest (Relevance is another option). Now click on/display the Share drop down menu. 10 August 2017

Now displayed is the Manager. Note you can with Rich Text or Plain Text options. Use the Standard Field Format. 10 August 2017

19 The Save Manager with HTML (hypertext links) option and Standard Field Format or Citation Format is displayed. 10 August 2017

20 Re-open the results of the air pollution AND developing countries search. This can be done by clicking on the Search History link or using the web browser’s back button several times. In Refine Results, there are several options to limit the results. Displayed here are the Linked Full Text, References Available, Publication Dates and Source Types options. 10 August 2017

21 The Publication Date bar has been moved to limit the search to 2015 – 2017 publications. The search results # is 166. Note the Limiters list info and the X symbol that is used to clear the search results. Again, you can either use the back button to return to the pesticides AND water pollution search results. 10 August 2017

22 Note the Subject Thesaurus Term list that also can be used to refine a search.
If a search results number is too small, you can delete or modify and re-refine you search and broaden it. 10 August 2017

23 Remove the Publication Date limit (click on X) and, in the Subject Thesaurus Term list, click on emissions (air pollution) – to Refine Results. 10 August 2017

26 This is the Search History/Alerts page
This is the Search History/Alerts page. Note that the initial and refined searches are listed. For each search, there are View Results, View Details or Edit options. Other options are to complete a Search with AND or Search with OR or Delete Searches. Scroll down and open the original air pollution AND developing countries search results. The Search History page is very useful. By checking the box of two (or more) specific searches, you can combine searches. 10 August 2017

27 The Sign In to My EBSCOhost page has been opened
The Sign In to My EBSCOhost page has been opened. You will need this personal account to use some of the Environmental Index options including viewing previously saved searches. Click on Create a new Account. You can access this page by clicking on the Sign In option that is on the top of the search page. This account is your personal one. You will not use your institution’s username and password. Once you have logged into OARE and opened the Environmental Index, you will use your personal User Name and Password. Remember to keep this information in a safe place. 10 August 2017
