Maruti Suzuki Success Story Making youth employable through Skill development Very Good Afternoon everyone. I am here to speak for a 30 year old market leader in passenger car segment, Maruti Suzuki’s success story. Before I begin, let me first ask you : How many cars does Maruti make in an year ? We are currently making 1.5Million cars in an year! Our mission is to reach 2 million car sales by the year 2020. I would say the DNA of Maruti is ITS PEOPLE, that no competitor could copy and it is the investment in our people that we do. 3 dimensions of Community Skill Development ITI ADOPTION VOCATIONAL SCHOOL FOR BELOW POVERTY YOUTH APPERENTICESHIPS There are three dimensions on how we work for community First is by ITI adoption. We have around 145 adopted ITI s out of which 43 IMC chaired by Sr. Maruti executives, overall objective is complete upgradation of ITI Moreover we hire persons who are dropouts , below poverty line and offer two year course where youth have opportunity to Earn and Learn ITI pass outs are employed as trade apprentices

These shall be our skilled manpower pool for future. Currently more than 2000 such youngsters have benefited from this scheme.

11 Apprenticeship at Maruti Suzuki
CUSTOMISED APPRENTICE AWARENESS COMPAIGN: To improve apprenticeship awareness among students Maruti Suzuki designed an awareness campaign and covered students of final semester in 22 supported ITIs FOR ITI PASS OUTs: Providing opportunity to ITI pass outs to undergo apprenticeship training under trade apprenticeship program. FOR NON-ITI PASS OUTs: Youth having no technical skills are given opportunity to learn skills under fresher apprenticeship program. For those who do not have formal education, Maruti Suzuki shall be starting fresher apprentice scheme and other ITI pass-outs undergo trade apprentice program. More than 2500 apprentice are employed in Maruti Suzuki and more than 7500 across value chain 2500+ apprentices engaged by Maruti Suzuki & engaged in value chain in FY

This is the story of Naina, 21 year old whose father is an electrician. Maruti supported ITI in Pusa has enabled her to have clarity in life.
