2 First things first… Connect to in a web browser and log in with the password provided in your order confirmation. Take a look around to familiarize yourself with the interface.

4 Management Overview… The administrator has the ability to manage terms, teachers, classes and students. An admin has the capability to add or remove items from each of these categories, either manually, or through imported data sets. All administrator tools can be found by clicking on your name in the upper right-hand corner of the screen and then clicking on Account Dashboard.

6 Managing Terms… Terms represent the period over which the students remain in their classes. To access tools for managing terms, click Manage Terms in the Account Dashboard. You must create a term before all else. To create a new term, click the New Term button, enter the name of the term, and click the Save Term button. To delete a term, select the checkbox next to the term, then click the Delete Terms button. You can also click on the trashcan icon next to the term, enter your password, and click Delete. This action will lose all data; so to simply archive it, click the pencil icon next to the term, select the Read-Only checkbox, and click the Save Term button. To set a term as active, click the pencil icon, select the Make this the current term checkbox, and click the Save Term button.

7 Managing Terms… One term is active at a time. Inactive terms become read only. You can set up as many terms as you like, making the current term the active one. For example, if you are nearing the end of the semester and want to start setting up a new semester, create the term, but do not set it as current.

8 Entering Data… There are two options for entering information into the system: Import a CSV file from your student/learning management system. Manually enter teachers, classes and students.

9 Confidential Importing Data… Most management systems are able to export teacher, class and student information in a delimited text format. Export the data as CSV, and import through Remark. You can import student and teacher first and last names, teacher s, student IDs, student names, class IDs, class names and other optional pieces of data.

10 Confidential Managing Teachers… Teachers represent the basic users of Remark. To access tools for managing teachers, click Manage Teachers in the Account Dashboard. To manually create a new teacher, click the New Teacher button, enter in the name, salutation, and username ( address) of the teacher, and click the Save Teacher button. The teacher will be ed instructions on how to set their password. To delete a teacher, select the checkbox next to the teacher, then click the Delete Teachers button. You can also click on the trashcan icon next to the teacher, enter your password, and click Delete. This action removes all of the students’ data from the teacher; so to simply archive it, click the pencil icon next to the teacher, deselect the Active checkbox, and click Save Teacher. Inactive teachers still reside in the system but cannot be utilized.

11 Confidential Managing Classes… To access tools for managing classes, click Manage Classes in the Account Dashboard. To create a new class, click the New Class button, enter in the name, ID, term and teacher of the class, and click the Save Class button. To delete a class, select the checkbox next to the class, then click the Delete Classes button. You can also click on the trashcan icon next to the class, enter your password, and click Delete. To add or remove students from a class, click the pencil icon next to the class, click the Remove button(s) next to the student(s) in the roster, and click the Save Class button.

13 Confidential Managing Settings… To manage settings, click the dropdown arrow in the dashboard (next to “Manage Students”) and then click Account Settings. From the Settings area, it is possible to modify the following: Account logo, which can be displayed on tests and reports. Display settings for when and where the logo appears. submission options, which allow teachers to the scanned tests straight to Remark, usually from a multi-function printer (MFP). Manage an whitelist for submissions. Note that teacher addresses in the system are automatically whitelisted. summary attachment if submissions are active. Choose the reports, data export and gradebook export formats that are active. Teachers can then choose the desired options from this list.

14 Confidential Managing Security… To manage security, click the dropdown arrow in the dashboard (next to “Manage Students”) and then click Account Security. There are various levels of security, which you can assign different members to. These are called “security groups.” All security commands are broken down into three command terms: the action, the resource type, and the level. Action: Resource Type: Level: List Groups Teacher Add Teachers Account Update Classes Client Delete Tests World Execute Etc.

Confidential Managing Security… Two groups are automatically created: Account Super Users: This is the administrator. Users: These are the teachers. If you want to have a “back up” administrator, you can move an existing teacher into the Account Super Users group.

16 Confidential That’s It! Once you have set up the term, customized your settings, and entered the teacher, class and student data, you are ready to start using the system. You may also wish to view the Remark Test Grading Edition – Teacher primer to understand how teachers use the system.
