How do temperature and health correlate?
Thermal imaging can show high risk areas… but only at discrete times when the patient remembers to measure the temperature of their feet High risk areas Temperature is an indicator of underlying physiological processes taking place in the body. Normal metabolic functions blend together to produce an average body temperature in the human of approximately 37 degrees Centigrade. (advance to picture) But when there is an injury, or infection, physiological processes increase the amount of heat, which can be used as a signal of underlying medical need. Here we have a thermal image of a patient’s feet. Imagining can show high risk areas for damage to the feet. BUT, these data can only be collected Discrete foot temperature increases predict skin ulceration within one week
