ELIGIBILITY vs. HSI GRANTS ELIGIBILITY FOR TITLE III & V PROGRAMS (Phase One) APPLYING FOR HSI GRANTS (Phase Two)

TITLE III & V ELIGIBILITY (Phase One)
Must have 50% of undergraduates receiving federal financial aid. Must be one of the following (no exceptions): Pell Grant Work Study SEOG Perkins Loan

TITLE III & V ELIGIBILITY (Phase One)
Additionally: Count must be “unduplicated” %’s are from IPEDS (Automatic-no application) (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System) %’s are always two years back (e.g., eligibility in Fall 16 based on %’s from Fall 14)

HSI GRANT WRITING (Phase Two)
“HSI status” is a misnomer In actuality, HSI status is a campus with an HSI grant Requires 25% Hispanic/Latino enrollment

THE REAL CHALLENGE We must meet Phase One requirement first
50% on federal financial aid Title III & V eligibility For Fall 16 eligibility we need 50%, but looking two years back as required, we have 35% The trend-line on federal financial aid participation is not promising

RECOMMENDATION ENGAGE IN STRATEGIC ACTIVITIES AND COORDINATED DECISION- MAKING TO SUBSTANTIALLY INCREASE THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS ON FEDERAL FINANCIAL AID
