8 QA Spec Requirements and Expectations
General QA Requirements: Vendor to supply QA Program Plan/Manual and/or Project Specific QA Plan Includes QA elements critical to quality such as: Procurement Manufacturing, Inspection, and Test Plans Manufacturing Travelers Inspection/Test Hold and witness points Non-Conformance Controls Suspect/ Counterfeit Items Prevention Awareness Materials Traceability Spec calls for chemical and mechanical material certs for the documentation package. Material Handling Packaging, Storage and Shipping Documentation & Document Control LCLS-II 2 K CBX FDR, Mar 9, 2017

9 QA Spec Requirements and Expectations
General QA Requirements– Continued - Jlab SME’s and QA to perform site visit if Vendor is not currently on the Approved List for Code Products Supplier/Vendor Oversight by Jlab and SLAC personnel Performance oversight Witness points LCLS-II 2 K CBX FDR, Mar 9, 2017

10 QA Spec Requirements and Expectations
ASME and AWS Code Requirements Welding Section: Details are adequately covered for various weld types, fit up, machining, cleaning, and finishing Re-work expectations cited Inspection requirements articulated Eg. ASME Section IX Spec cites requirements for qualification and certifications of personnel doing the work (welding) or inspections. LCLS-II 2 K CBX FDR, Mar 9, 2017

11 MLI installation LCLS-II 2 K CBX FDR, Mar 9, 2017

12 Minimum leak check requirements
Volume Leak check requirement Helium Sensitive leak check with helium mass spectrometer leak detector, no allowable leaks greater than 10-8 atm*cc/s Guard vacuum Relief valve discharge collector Instrument air Bubble test, no observable leaks allowed during ASME B initial service leak test Cooling water supply and return No observable leaks allowed during ASME B initial service leak test Insulating vacuum Sensitive leak check with helium mass spectrometer leak detector, no allowable leaks greater than 10-6 atm*cc/s LCLS-II 2 K CBX FDR, Mar 9, 2017

13 Minimum pressure test requirements
Volume Pressure test requirement Helium ASME B pneumatic leak test Instrument air Piping spools per ASME B pneumatic leak test Final installation connections per ASME B initial service leak test Cooling water supply and return Piping spools per ASME B hydrostatic leak test LCLS-II 2 K CBX FDR, Mar 9, 2017

14 Cleaning requirements
Subcontractor shall provide in-process and final cleaning procedures All surfaces shall be thoroughly cleaned of all corrosion, scale, spatter, flux, lubricants and foreign materials Cleaning agents suitable for the materials of construction shall be used, and if necessary, shall be neutralized LCLS-II 2 K CBX FDR, Mar 9, 2017

15 Surface treatment requirements – carbon steel
Preparation requirement Coating requirement Carbon steel inside surface (exposed to insulating vacuum) Prepare surface per SSPC SP10 After successful leak check, inside surface shall be painted using a two-part epoxy per , or approved equal. Rustoleum #9392 white for a total dry film thickness (DFT) of 2 to 4 mils maximum. Do not prime. Carbon steel outside surface (exposed to atmospheric conditions) After successful leak check, a Three coat inorganic paint system comprising of Carboline Carbozinc 11HS (primer), Carboline 893 SG (intermediate), and Carbothane 134 HG S150 Safety Blue (finish). LCLS-II 2 K CBX FDR, Mar 9, 2017

16 Surface treatment requirements – stainless steel
Preparation requirement Coating requirement Stainless steel inside surface (exposed to process or insulating vacuum) Prepare surface per SSPC SP1 using solvents and cleaning solutions that will not induce stress corrosion cracking. Surface shall be passivated per ASTM A380. None. Stainless steel outside surface (exposed to atmospheric conditions) LCLS-II 2 K CBX FDR, Mar 9, 2017

19 Shipping plan Acceleration loads (appropriate for air ride trailer) have been incorporated into design of shipping supports LCLS-II 2 K CBX FDR, Mar 9, 2017

20 Installation sequence
Check level of floor and determine thickness of permanent spacer blocks. Lay out pattern onto floor. Drill for anchors and core for shear keys. Tape down protective measures over holes to keep out dust. LCLS-II 2 K CBX FDR, Mar 9, 2017

21 Installation sequence
Machine permanent steel spacer blocks that the base flange will rest on. The tallest block shall be 2" high, and the tops of all blocks shall be level when placed correctly on the pattern. Accept delivery. Unload from truck onto dollies, position over pattern, jack up to remove dollies, and jack down onto permanent spacer blocks. LCLS-II 2 K CBX FDR, Mar 9, 2017

22 Installation sequence
Install and weld shear keys. Pass anchors through the base flange, embed into concrete, and epoxy into place. After epoxy is cured, grout around base flange, making sure to fill ID of all shear keys with grout. After grout is cured, install double nuts to tension anchors. LCLS-II 2 K CBX FDR, Mar 9, 2017
