Mission Statement The mission of the Martha and Josh Morriss Mathematics & Engineering Elementary is to offer an innovative engineering curriculum along with an accelerated mathematics program by providing a rigorous and seamless STEM education that serves as a national model for how young children can become engaged and educated. History and Impact Blue Ribbon Committee Way to create supply of engineers Need I.D.ed Expose kids at an early age Dr. Sullivan, Dr. Hensley, business community, university, ---- collaborative formed. Morriss land Vision Impact – robotics Design of facility Template of Engineering Accelerated Math

Integrated STEM Education
Lens Foundation Culture Curriculum piece, instructionsl piece – culture piece Integrated but must meet state standards No take home projects Not a Gifted and Talented program but a heavier focus on the more difficult areas of math, science and engineering We lay engineering as a template over everything we do. Has went from an area of weakness to an area of greatest confidence. Higher Order Thinking Skills More rigorous Types of questions Accelerated math-Non-negotiable. Non-negotiables: We see STEM as a culture, manifested by expectations we expect to see if classrooms every day. High Expectations Cooperative Learning Rigor Accelerated Mathematics Higher Order Questioning Engineering Immersion Leadership & Articulation Technology Tools Student Engagement Conceptual Learning
