We have examined the needs of different subjects and the time available to each of them

Theory based unit.
1 hour Online Exam towards the end of Year 10.
Unit 2 – Practical Sport
A range of practical sports will be covered with assessment in your 2 best sports.

11. Unit 3 – Leading sports activities
Learn how to put together your own coaching session which you will deliver to primary school children.
Unit 4 – Training for personal fitness
Design a fitness programme for yourself and carry it out.

Section A: Core Themes
Two structures, data response questions assessing module 1 (Landscape and physical processes) and module 2 (Rural-urban links). Some questions will require extended answers.
Section B: Options
One structured question from either module;
Tectonic hazards
Coastal hazards
Landscape and physical processes – river and coastal environments, rural-urban links – urbanisation, suburbanaisation, counter-urbanisation.

15. Component 2 Environmental and development issues 1 hour 30 minute exam, 35% of qualification
Section A: Core Themes
Two structures, data response questions assessing module 1 (Weather, climate and ecosystems) and module 2 (Development and resource issues). Some questions will require extended answers.
Section B: Options
One structured question from either module;
Social development issues
Environmental challenges
Social development and inequalities, carbon and ecological footprints and the human impact on the environment.

16. Component 3 Applied fieldwork enquiry 1 hour 30 minute exam, 30% of qualification
Part A: Will assess approaches to fieldwork methodology, representation and analysis.
Part B: Will assess how fieldwork enquiry may be used to investigate geography’s conceptual framework.
Part C: Will assess the application of broad geographical concepts to a wider UK context and assess the ability to make and justify a decision.

19. Time allowance: 4 hours a fortnight
The idea is to cover all content by October half term of Year 11 to allow for time to revise.
Order: Conflict and Tension, America, Elizabeth and then Medicine.
Currently revision materials are being written as it is a new GCSE, however I would suggest a copy of the textbooks to be kept at home, these can be bought from amazon.co.uk

This changes each year dependent on what the exam board has specified.

30. Process The form will be available via Moodle to students NOW
Students fill in the form either at home with parents or in school.
The students will be taken by their tutors to the Learning Centre or computer rooms to fill in the form next week.
It is not a “first come first served” process but I do need to know numbers for each subject
Parents will then be informed by letter of choices made
The further choices which will be made in Year 9 will have a separate but similar process.
