Düsseldorf Airport fire , Germany-1996:
Fire broke out inside the passenger terminal killing 17 people with 100 causalities.
1,000 firefighters were involved in extinguishing the blaze
 Total damage was estimated at 570 M$.

In addition to the drinking water supply system, a separate extinguishing water network is in place with three underground basins, each holding 2000 cubic meters of water. The pumps deliver a combined volume of 60,000 L/M t a pressure of 7 bar.

There are two ways of addressing fire in construction:
1- Prevent it 2-Deal with it
Reducing ignition sources
Reducing Smoking, Reducing the usage of Plant and equipment, reducing Electrical installations.
Reducing potential fuel sources
Reducing the amount of combustible material, changing flammability of materials as they are used, reducing the storage flammable materials

When Escape route falls under sheeted scaffold, avoid covering the access:
Smoke can escape
Fire service can gain access
Most construction rubbish can burn, make sure to remove
them all at the earliest

Self-closing doors (30 minutes of fire resistance)
Escape route should be obstacle free with self closing doors, as opened door route can quickly be filled with fire smoke.
