4 Why Move to Online

5 Why Move to Online Hosted instance - infrastructure costs
No IFD required mobile available Auto-upgrades Natural integration with all other Office 365 products (Open in Excel Online, SharePoint, OneNote) Some products just released in past couple of years: Common Data Service, Flow, D365 for Talent, Portals

6 Why Move to Online (Not)
SQL-based reports not accessible Direct query against database not accessible Down-time not in company control Active Directory integration requires work Exchange On Premise for Server Side Sync configuration requires work

7 Options/Tools For Migrating
Spreadsheet imports Integration tool such as Scribe, Kingsway Soft or Dell BOOMI Dynamics Lifecycle Services - new method provided by Microsoft (unproven, few clients, keep a lookout)

8 Technical Considerations – The Plan
Purchase licenses Stand up plain instance Export customizations from CRM 2013 On Premise, import into D365 instance Create users in Office 365 Apply licenses Use Scribe to create data Validate Train users Migrate all users 100 hour project (1 month)

9 Technical Considerations (1 / 4)
Purchase licenses Bought a few full D365 for Sales licenses but mostly Team Member Purchased through the consultants Cloud Solution Provider program Stand up vanilla instance Quick to stand up an instance, includes a sandbox Export customizations from CRM 2013 On Premise, import into D365 instance Remove all unneeded solutions Had to run the Custom Code Validation tool Export "Default Customizations" Site map required tweaking still Issues with Business Process Flow

10 Technical Considerations (2 / 4)
Create users in Office 365 Needed to add disabled users as well Configure security roles configure Apply licenses Licenses purchased ahead of time

11 Technical Considerations (3 / 4)
Use Scribe to create data Performed two passes Test Production Identify entities that need to come over Only validated appropriate security roles Security Roles needed updating for particular privileges that just didn't exist in CRM 2013 Personal Views and Dashboards required some manual work Challenges Activities – (Activity Party) Modified On, Modified By

12 Technical Considerations (4 / 4)
Validate Spreadsheet export from old system and new system Train users Use of sandbox for training Turn on for all users

13 Lessons Learned Challenges Wins Pricing and licensing was confusing
