Our free, week-long residential summer schools give you a unique insight into university life

We will cover the cost of travel, accommodation, food and activities so you don’t pay anything

Attend academic sessions
Get an insight into courses you are thinking of applying for and learn more about other progression routes
Experience first year university-level teaching
Find out what current undergrads at the university think of the courses
2) Participate in a range of social activities
In the evenings there are a range of social activities to choose from – these differ from at each university
These activities are fun, allow you to try new things and develop new skills, whilst meeting the other participants
3) Receive additional support and information on:
UCAS applications – receive assistance with applications to university
Get your questions answered about university finance and hear how current undergrads manage their budgets
Careers sessions will help you think about where you are going long term and how your uni experience will get you to the end goal

Listed are a selection of the subjects
Please refer to the website/brochure for the full range of subject strands offered
- You can only apply to one subject stream
- This will be the subject that you follow throughout the summer school week
Subjects are sometimes combined together so that you can try out similar subjects
Some courses at university will be completely new to you so it’s a chance to try something new
For example, Sociology may include sessions on Theology and Ethics
- This will help you pin down exactly what you want to study at university

8. Our programmes are open to students who
Summer School entry requirements
Our programmes are open to students who
Are studying in Year 12 in England or Wales, Year 13 in Ireland and S5 in Scotland
Have achieved at least five A* - A grades at GCSE, of five A or B passes at National 5, and, where applicable are studying relevant subjects which they apply for (as can be found on university pages)
Attend a state-funded secondary school or college (non fee-paying school) in the UK and have never attended a fee-paying school

Sutton Trust Summer Schools are competitive
To apply you must meet the three criteria on the screen
Priority will then be given to students who meet additional criteria, including:
Family background e.g. if your parents didn’t go to university
School performance

Choose your university and subject strand then fill in your application form
You will need a teacher at your school to verify your details (this is usually the UCAS coordinator)
The website will close on Thursday 2nd March at 5pm – you will not be able to submit your application after this point
