3 TERM BILLS - Costs of Attendance
University Board of Governors establishes and approves tuition and fee rates annually in mid-July for the upcoming academic year. Tuition and fee charges are calculated based on: full-time / part time per credit hour enrollment in state / out of state school of attendance, campus fees, school fees Other charges include: Housing Dining RU Express Card Course related fees Students are ED when the term bill is viewable online at our website at The fall semester term bill due date is August 16, 2016. Tuition and fee rates for upcoming academic year are established and approved by the University Board of Governors in mid-July These charges are based on full-time or part-time registration, in-state or out of state residency or school of enrollment. At the end of July, Student Accounting forwards a postcard and s a notification to the student regarding the availability of the term bill on our website at The due date for fall 2014 semester is August 7, 2014.

4 Rutgers NET ID, RU EMAIL account & RUID
Students access most of Rutgers' services including , the myRutgers portal, and instructional applications online using a unique identifier, a NetID and password, or with their nine digit student Identification number. It is important for students to keep their addresses in the Rutgers Online Directory up to date at all times. Failure to do so may cause students to miss official s from the University, including messages from Student Accounting, the Registrar, Financial Aid, or for their online classes in Sakai, Blackboard or eCollege. We recommend that students forward SAR s directly to parents. 5 Financial Aid and the Term Bill
Awarded Financial Aid is used as a credit to the term bill and reduces the balance due. Federal Work-Study earned & paid through payroll office. Always check financialaid.rutgers.edu for up-to date financial aid offers. You may subtract the additional financial aid from the balance due, including outside scholarships. If your Financial Aid is more than the balance due, students can confirm their attendance on the web site. If you owe a balance, pay by the term bill due date to confirm your attendance and to avoid late fees. If you need more funding, apply for third party loans early, or enroll in our Tuition Payment Plan. Financial Aid is used as a credit to the term bill and reduces the balance due Federal Work-Study on the other hand, does not credit to the term bill, as it must be earned In some cases financial aid is offered after the term bill is generated and does not show as a credit. In this case, students can print their term bill and make adjustments on the payment form. The student must then mail in their term bill, along with proof of payment to the Student Accounting Office. Receipt of the term bill confirms the student’s attendance

7 TERM BILLS - Understanding the Process
This is the home page of the Student Accounting website. Students are not only able to access their term bills on our website, but also able to access other websites such as Financial Aid, the Registrar, and Residence Life.

8 Student Account Statement
Students are able to access their term bills by logging in with their “RUID” or their “NetID” and password.

9 Sample Term Bill – View Your Student Account Statement
In the pink shaded box labeled “Your Student Account Status”, students can see their term bill due date and determine if their “Attendance has been confirmed and term bill received”. Student’s account outstanding balance is displayed, the left side lists the charges and the right lists “Payments or Account Credits”, such as financial aid. The right side details the different type of payment options we offer such as electronic check (with no service fee) or by using your MasterCard, Discover, or American Express cards with a 2.5% convenience fee .

10 Methods of Payment: Can pay by electronic check
or by credit card with a 2.5 % convenience fee or by enrolling in the Rutgers Partial Payment Plan. Visit our web site for more detailed information.

11 Tuition Payment Plans RU Tuition Payment Plan (RUTPP):
Easy, affordable plan to extend term bill payments for the: Academic year (2 semesters) over a 12, 10, 8, or 6 month period. (Budget double semester charges). One semester over a 5, 4, 3, or 2 month period. For more information and to enroll, go to our website at or complete a paper enrollment form. Students also have the option of enrolling in our tuition payment plans. By planning early you can add your college term bill payments to your monthly household budget which allow you to avoid the large, lump sum payment due before the beginning of each semester. For an enrollment fee of just $50, you can choose the number of months to spread your installment payments and the installment period is interest free. For information, please visit our website

12 Tuition Payment Plans Using the navigator bar on the left side you can select the Tuition Payment Plan options to view the different annual and semester plans.

13 Mandatory Health Insurance
Rutgers provides a mandatory group insurance plan for full-time students that will be included on your electronic term bill/student account charges. Students will be billed per semester. Students who have comparable outside coverage, can deduct the amount of the health insurance fee from the term bill, providing they can show proof of adequate insurance and complete the online Health Insurance Waiver by the first day of class. Students need to enroll or waive every semester. Log into University Health Plans web site at to waive or enroll in health insurance coverage every semester. Rutgers provides a mandatory group insurance plan for full-time students. The fee for this insurance plan is included on students’ term bills and is billed per semester.

14 Direct Deposit Students receiving Financial Aid where their aid is greater than their billable charges, can enroll in direct deposit of their refund checks into their bank accounts for faster refunds. Visit for more details regarding this service. Brochures are also included in your handout. Please encourage your son or daughter to enroll in direct deposit. This is a more efficient way for the student to receive their refund. We usually end up mailing refund checks after approx. 18 days. The student could have already had their refund if they had signed up for direct deposit.

15 F E R P A Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
Federal law gives students rights with respect to their educational records. Educational records must be kept confidential. We cannot disclose "personally identifiable information" without the student’s prior written consent. In order for us to discuss your child’s account with you, your child must sign the FERPA Release Form. Students/parents can access the form through our website at The right of access to information in a student’s educational records is governed by a federal law known as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”). The right of access to other information, such as medical or counseling records, is governed by applicable state or federal law. As a general rule, students attending a college or university, regardless of age, have the right under FERPA to control disclosure of information from their educational records. In order for us to discuss your son or daughter’s account with you, they must sign the FERPA release form.
