INTRODUCTION Agrupamento de Escolas D. Sancho I integrates General Courses as well as Vocational Courses. The latter cover basic subjects, as well as a vast amount of practical hours. Vocational courses already represent almost 50% of the school offer. As a result, the school is seen as a provider of skilled manpower acting also as an intermediary between applicants and the business sector. It establishes a connection with potential employers by means of an updated database of candidates and demand, which aim at making the recruitment process easier. In close cooperation with the Job Centre, the school also provides young people and adults support in the definition or development of their career routes or reintegration in the labour market. The school hopes to make the employment process mainly the result of a direct request on the part of companies towards the school. In turn, the business community offer school leavers from vocational courses job training and internships and, at times, coaching sessions on entrepreneurial skills.
