Instructions It is important that you use this template and not a template provided by your university to ensure that your team’s school affiliation is withheld from the judges. Maximum 8 slides (including title slide) plus up to 3 annex slides for alternative options and/or supplementary information. Do not exceed these limits. If possible, reduce the number of slides in your presentation. Provide only information essential to your policy recommendation and narrative on the slides. Extra details can be given orally in your presentation. Different policy recommendations will require a slightly different structure to effectively brief the Minister or senior department officials. A template is given in the following slides to get you started and give you an idea of the structure of a typical presentation used for briefing the Minister of Finance. Adjust the order of your slides or combine slides to effectively brief on your policy recommendation. However, be sure that your presentation includes that following key components: Explanation of the problem/issue being addressed and essential background information. Do not assume that your audience has read your written proposal from the First Round. Links to Government priorities (i.e., election platform, speech from the throne, mandate letters, previous budget, economic/fiscal update). Clear and concise decision points for your policy recommendation, accompanied by a funding table (use the same format for the funding table found in the written submission template). A clear argument and all of the essential information for a Minister or Senior Department of Finance Official would need to make a decision on your proposal.
