Make an appointment in the Guidance & Counseling Office.

4 Common Factors of SUCCESSFUL HHS Students
Possess a high level of self-knowledge Engage in activities that reflect their interests and passions Take positive risks that expose them to personal growth opportunities – step out of one’s comfort zone Surround themselves with people that have similar interests and aptitudes Challenge themselves in and out of the classroom

5 Thoughts from HHS Graduates
“Take challenging courses during high school.” “Don’t take high school for granted.” “If I could go back to high school I would take more AP classes and actually study.” “Learn to read your textbooks.” “Develop good study habits.” “One of the most difficult parts of college is time management.” “Don’t slack off. It may seem worth it but it will hurt you later.”

6 Scheduling Seminars Attendance is taken
Sophomores: Wed, January 18th (Six District Compact Orientation Day included) Freshmen: Wed, January 25th Course Request Worksheets are distributed and counselors discuss course options for next year

7 Online Scheduling from home
Step 1: Schedule from home. Window will be open Monday, February 6th through Friday, February 10th Step 2: Students must return their Course Request Sheet* by Tuesday, February 14th to the Guidance Office *Parent signature is required If you do NOT turn this sheet in, you will not receive a Course Verification Sheet Step 3: Course Verification Sheets will be distributed on Tuesday, February 21st through 2nd period classes to students that have submitted their Course Request Sheets. Step 4: Course Verification Sheet to be returned, with parent signature, by Wednesday, February 22nd to Guidance Office

Law and Public Safety Criminal Justice-(College Tech Prep)- Cuyahoga Falls, HS Manufacturing Technologies Electronics, Robotics and Programming (College Tech Prep) STEM – Roosevelt HS Marketing Interactive Media/Digital Design (College Tech Prep) – Cuyahoga Falls HS International Business Academy (College Tech Prep)- Stow-Munroe Falls HS Marketing Management (College Tech Prep) -Cuyahoga Falls, Roosevelt high schools Transportation Systems Auto Specialization (College Tech Prep) Hudson, HS Automotive Technologies (College Tech Prep)– Cuyahoga Falls and Hudson high schools Aeronautics Careers Academy (College Tech Prep) STEM- Stow Munroe Falls HS, Kent State University Collision Repair and Auto Refinishing (College Tech Prep) –Woodridge HS Students completing some of the College Tech Prep Initiative programs will be eligible for college-level credit. Please see the Compact Career Catalog for more information including opportunities for parents to visit the program sites (page 36).

12 College Credit Plus Considering CCP? Attendance at the informational meeting is MANDATORY for students & parents. Informational meeting will be held on Monday, February 6th at 7:00pm in the Auditorium There will be representatives from Hiram College, Kent State University and the University of Akron to discuss program specifics and answer questions

13 Ohio’s State Tests April 3-7- Delayed Start Schedule
The following courses will participate in testing: Biology or Honors Biology Algebra 1 Geometry or Honors Geometry U.S. History or Honors U.S. History Students must earn a total of 18 points, using seven end-of-course state tests. To ensure students are well rounded, they must earn a minimum of four points in math, four points in English and six points across science and social studies Each end-of-course state test is worth up to 5 points, a score of 3 is considered passing AP Courses do not participate in end-of-course exams U.S. Government English 9 or Honors English 9 English 10 or Honors English 10

18 This is the home page – what you see first after logging in
This is the home page – what you see first after logging in. On the left hand side are “pages” and “links”. In the middle you will see in the blue box “what’s new” and the welcome message. On the right side is where you can check messages, find a specific document from the document library, contact your counselor and then “updates” which are just points of interest. There are 5 different tabs at the top then for you to use – Courses, Colleges, Careers, About Me, and My Planner

This is the “colleges” tab. Here you can find a wealth of information about colleges by doing college searches, seeing where HHS students have applied and attended most and relevant data associated with that. It is never too early to start looking at your options.

This is the “careers” tab. You can explore a variety of career options in the “explore careers and clusters”. You can find information in here about all kinds of different careers and then link those to potential college majors and to more information about colleges that have those majors. Once you do some exploring you can save these and go back to them any time in your “favorite careers and clusters”
