3 Supplier Diversity Policy
As a Corporate-wide initiative, United’s Supplier Diversity Program is an integral part of our procurement processes.  Our policy is to ensure that all certified and qualified women, minority, veteran, service disable veteran,  lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT),  persons with disabilities and small businesses, who meet our supplier requirements; have the opportunity to participate in our supply chain opportunities.  We include our supplier diversity requirements in all our RFP and contract agreement templates.  Our Supplier Diversity Team is an important part of procurement and leads the charge in developing our strategy and driving results.    We are proud of the work we do here at United and believe that supporting diverse and small businesses helps create strong communities and provides value to our customers. As you can imagine, at United we have employees and customers from all over the world with different backgrounds, thoughts and ideas. Our differences help us serve our customers better and our supplier diversity programs goals ensure that no matter what size the company, our community is given equal access to our business opportunities. Certification Requirements: We require that all small and diverse businesses provide proof of certification from one of our preferred third-party certification agencies and or their affiliates. Those certifying bodies include: National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce (USPAACC) City, State, Federal and Local Government Certifications The Small Business Administration (SBA) 8(a) Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) Association of Service Disabled Veterans (ASDV) Certification If you are interested in doing business with United, one of our requirements is certification. We accept a number of third party certifications which demonstrates that you are who you say you are. What we buy As one o the worlds leading airlines, we buy a number of things from uniforms, to wine, to janitorial and cabin cleaning, to FAA repair maintenance and services. 7 Supplier Diversity is a critical corporate initiative for United
Pre-Planning United participates in a number of local, regional and national diversity events to represent the company and identify potential suppliers United website ( is used to obtain supplier company information Supplier Diversity engages proactively with sourcing teams to introduce qualified suppliers and manage long-term relationships Sourcing Process Supplier diversity is involved up front in planning processes by identifying qualified companies and collaborating with procurement teams during sourcing events Suppliers are evaluated by the United Diversity team which is included in RFP evaluation scorecard Suppliers are contractually required to report their diversity programs on an ongoing basis to cascade initiative benefits throughout United’s supply chain Ongoing Management Sourcing teams have objectives that drive diverse supplier inclusion in competitive bidding and ultimately sourced dollars Supplier Diversity team reports to UA Board of Directors, Public Responsibility Committee and the Executive Diversity Council annually/semi-annually Supplier Diversity periodically provides updates across the company on program and company objectives Supplier diversity is a critical part of our procurement process and they are engaged upfront in our processes CONFIDENTIAL -
