5 Fruit growing and viticulture
Programme’ goal: To provide students with formally recognized I degreeuniversity education with will allow them to: 1. Continue study on the II cycle of university education; 2. Obtain solid foundations for life-long learning process; 3. Get employed in primary friut and vinegrowing production, distribution and administration.

6 Fruit growing and viticulture - Tasks
Use of interactive methods of transfer and adoption of knowledge with task to provide students with: The profile of university edacated and professionally competent person; The knowledge and understanding of all basic disciplines related to production of fruit and wine; Ability to apply acquired knowledge and transfer it to production and distribution of relevant products Understanding and adopting basic scientific methods necessary for life-long learning.

7 Fruit growing and viticulture – provided capabilities
A. General competences and skills : General intelectual capabilities (critical approach to the sources and information; identifying, solving and asessing problems; individual planning, realization and presentation of activities; ability to apply acquired knowledge to new situations and problems) 2. General transferable competences and skills (written and oral presentation and communication; data’ gathering, classification and processing; computing skills; capability of team-working; IT and foreign languages use; making ethic-based decission with responsibility to employer, community and environment)

B. Professional competences and skills: 1. General professional competences and skills (general knowledge of fundamental sciences relevant for the field; understanding and adopting basic principles in soil science, ecology, climatology, plant physiology, fruit and wine production’ technology, quality control, food safety, national and international legislation and standards, understanding ecological aspect of primary agricultural production). 2. Specific professional competences and skills (planing, organization, monitoring of fruit and wine production; plant protection from biotic and abiotic factors; plant fertilization; legislation in seed and seedling production and distribution; genetics in fruit and wine breeding; genetic resource preservation; conducting actions aimed to environment protection)

9 B. Sc. In Fruit growing and viticulture – forseen professional positions
Positions with limited autonomy: Assistant technologist in the orchard or vineyard; Control of the fruit, wine and decorative plant’ production on the complex farms; Administrative tasks on the complex farms; Administrative tasks in the local, cantonal, entity or the state administration units and offices. Positions in GO and NGO oriented to plant production and environment.

10 B. Sc. In Fruit growing and viticulture – forseen professional positions
Positions with full autonomy: Technolog on farm specialized for fruit, wine, decorative plants and seedlings’ production; Administrative tasks related to fruit, wine, decorative plants and seedlings’ production; Extension services; Consulting offices; Teaching tasks in related secondary schools.
