How beneficial is Algebra to my future?
I want to major in Music Education and become a Choir Teacher so Algebra itself is not going to be used in my everyday life. Basic Math though is very helpful in music. Here are just a few examples… The Mozart Effect- Refers to research that indicate listening to Mozart will somehow temporarily make it easier for the brain to visualize special patterns and then mentally manipulate those patterns (also known as “spatial-temporal reasoning”. Some areas of mathematics rely heavily on this ability. Beat Frequencies- Is an example of what is known as a “product to sum” identity and that is what is used to identify triangles

Algebra and my future (continued)
Pathways between Math and the Arts- It is easier to understand music if you have first mastered math. Both math and music use shapes, patterns, and numbers. Tuning and Tones- Some instruments use the Pythagorean scale to measure the distance between notes and adjust them properly. A fifth corresponds to 3/2 and an octave corresponds to 2/1
