2. What is Lego Mindstorms?
LEGO MINDSTORMS is a programmable robotics construction set that gives you the power to build, program and command your own LEGO robots. A LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 robot will be able to walk, talk, move and do whatever you can imagine. The EV3 set comes with a free software and free apps that allow you to build, program, and control the robot from your PC, Mac, tablet, or smartphone.

3. What does EV3 stand for?
EV3 is the third generation of the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® platform and the “EV” stands for evolution.

4. A fighting Sumo Bot:
The aim of my robot will be that it automatically detects another robot, which my robot will try to push out of a ring. The ring will have a black outline, so that the colour sensor of the robot can detect the outline. The ultrasonic sensor will detect if any object is close, and will activate both motors. The winner will be the robot, which stays on the arena, without being pushed down.

5. Which software is used?
Win order to program my robot, I will use the official programming software from Lego Mindstorms, which can be downloaded from their website. It is very similar to « Scratch », where different blocks have to matched in order for the robot to function. There will be one block for each part, for example the light sensor, ultrasonic sensor, large motor…
