Phonesia Disconfect Blamestorming
2
Phonesia Phonesia is “the act of dialing a phone number and forgetting who you were calling just as the person answers.”
3
Disconfect? “The attempt to sterilize a piece of candy that has been dropped on the ground by blowing on it.”
4
Blamestorming “Sitting in a group and discussing who’s responsible for the company’s problems rather than trying to solve them.”
5
GRACE
6
Kellogg’s Corn Flakes.
7
Hebrews 12:15 – “See to it that no one misses the grace of God” (NIV)
8
“And that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many
“And that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.” (vs 15)
9
“See to it that no one misses the grace of God”.
10
Religion without grace is poisonous.
A relationship without grace is poisonous. A church without grace is poisonous. A heart without grace is poisonous.
13
DENY COMPARE MINIMIZE AND JUSTIFY OUR SIN.
14
THE UGLY TRUTH Our ability to appreciate God’s grace is in direct correlation to the degree to which we acknowledge our need for it. Luke 7: For this reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little." NASU Romans 3:23 – NLT “Everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”
15
My question is how do we respond to that information?
“Well, yeah, I mean technically I have sinned! But I haven’t SIN sinned.” In other words. I’ve sinned, but I’m NOT THAT BAD. Romans 3:23 - “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.”
16
“You say it’s not fair to be held to God’s standard, but you fall short of your own standards.”
17
BUT THE TRUTH IS WE ARE WORSE THAN WE EVER IMAGINED.
18
WE COMPARE OURSELVES TO OTHERS
Luke 18: And He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and viewed others with contempt: 10 "Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: 'God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 12 'I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.' 13 But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, the sinner!' 14 I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted." NASU
19
And when we are arrogant like that, when we judge others like that… guess what we’re doing? WE ARE SINNING.
20
WE WEIGH THE BAD AGAINST THE GOOD
“But if Bloomberg sensed that he may not have as much time left as he would like, he has little doubt about what would await him at a Judgment Day. Pointing to his work on gun safety, obesity and smoking cessation, he said with a grin. “I am telling you if there is a God, when I get to heaven I’m not stopping to be interviewed. I am heading straight in. I have earned my place in heaven. It’s not even close.”
21
Luke 7: For this reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little." NASU

THE BIGGEST SINNER I KNOW
“If the biggest sinner you know isn’t you, then you don’t know yourself very well.” Isaiah 6:5 (ESV) “And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!”

1 Timothy 1: It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all. NASU

Romans 3:9-10 - What then. Are we any better. Not at all
Romans 3: What then? Are we any better? Not at all! For we have previously charged that both Jews and Gentiles are all under sin, 10 as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one; (from The Apologetics Study Bible)
27
“Do you think you are the worst sinner?”
28
“WOE IS ME!”

THE HORROR OF SIN Matt 9:11-13 – “When the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, "Why is your Teacher eating with the tax collectors and sinners?" 12 But when Jesus heard this, He said, "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: 'I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT SACRIFICE,' for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners." NASU
30
“My sin was all the more incurable because I did not think myself a sinner”
