Budget of ca. £400M per year Four locations in London (Mile End, Whitechapel, Charterhouse Square, Lincoln’s Inn Fields) Two Joint Programmes in China: Beijing (EECS) and Nanchang (SBCS). New education programmes being launched in Xi’an (SEMS) and Malta (SMD).

Commitment to the highest international academic standards and engagement with our local communities. Academic Achievements: Member of the Russell Group of UK universities. Ranked 9th in UK for research quality. Ranked 113th in the world (THE World Rankings). Community Engagement: 37% of students from less advantaged backgrounds. 88% of students from state schools. Sector leading in public engagement activities. Twin commitments are mutually reinforcing.

The External Environment
Unprecedented volatility and uncertainty in the HE sector, relating to: Funding Student recruitment Student behaviour Competition Brexit Immigration and visas Changing expectations by students, government and wider society. Recent White Paper and HE Bill point towards further significant changes.

Future Ambition Further development as an international university, in a way that aligns with QMUL values. QMUL Strategy sets framework for progress, for example (by 18/19): Top 75 in world rankings. Matching RG success rates in grant applications. 50% increase in PhD students. Increases in student accommodation and informal study space. Developing major new international research collaborations. 5,000 students studying offshore. Award of the Public Engagement Gold ‘Watermark’. Ability to achieve an operating surplus equivalent to 7% of turnover, for investment.
