1 Damien Hirst

2 Damien Hirst was born in the UK of 1965
Damien Hirst was born in the UK of His fascination with the idea of ‘life and death’ started at the age of 16. He would frequently visit the anatomy department at a medical school in order to make life drawings using the dead bodies mainly heads. One of my favorite Quotes from him is, “Even as a kid in drawing class, I had real ambition. I wanted to be the best in the class, but there was always some other feller who was better; so I thought, 'It can't be about being the best, it has to be about the drawing itself, what you do with it.' That's kind of stuck with me”

3 Damien’s Artworks media involve installation art and sculptures but he also does painting, drawing and screen printings. His art mainly revolves around the idea of life as stated in this quote “Art’s about life and it can’t really be about anything else … there isn’t anything else,” The reason he uses dead animals in some of his artworks is because they live on in his art piece, life in death. Though most of his artworks seem to be morbid It’s really just the fact the life comes hand in hand with death.

4 ‘For the Love of God’ This is Damien Hirst’s most popular Sculpture.
The skull is made out of Platinum, diamonds and human teeth It has 8,601 diamonds and cost 14 million pounds to produce. This piece only is worth more than 50 million pounds. It was stated by Rudi Fuchs, that 'The skull is out of this world, celestial almost. It proclaims victory over decay. Image: Photographed by Prudence Cuming Associates © Damien Hirst and Science Ltd.
